“ABSOLUTELY HORRID PLACE!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2009

WORST HOTEL EVER!!! I stayed a total of 2 nights there and a couple days after returning home I noticed little bumps on my arms, neck and fingers. I went to the doctor and they informed me that not only did I have BED BUGS, but I had SCABIES as well!!! I was completely disgusted!!! I had to spend over $100 for the medicine and doctor's visit. And to make matters worse, they charged our credit card over $200 for "stealing bedding"!!!! This hotel is just absolutely horrid!!!

Initially impressed. On checking in, we were asked to call the front desk and tell them if the room met our satisfaction. Well, it wa clean, so we gave it an ok. ( We had 2 rooms). That's where it started to go wrong.
That night, we found the bathroom sink faucet did not change the water temperature and came off in our hand. What's worse, was that the shower temperature was not to be controlled. In one room, the first night, the water was freezing, the next night it was scalding. The other room had the same problem, but the nights were reversed. It gets worse.
The motel boasted of a continental breakfast, my son get himself a cup of coffee, and picked up a creamer next to the thermal caraffe. It was snatched out of his hand by an employee and was told in a thick Russian accent that " Is not for guest". Unbelievable.
In short, don't stay there. Seriously, your not that tired. Drive on.

  • Liked — The spa was ok
  • Disliked — The disrepair of the bathroom, the rudeness of the staff

This was a stop on our cross-country trip. Many hotels were sold out due to the Republican Convention. It was fairly close to the Mall of America, but it was a very busy area. Our room was in the back, so it was quiet. The condos behind us appeared to be empty.

The desk clerk was unfriendly, but the handy man was wonderful. It was tough to unload the car - no elevator! The hotel allowed pets ( which is a problem if one has allergies). I grabbed a danish for breakfast (no hot dishes other than waffles). Small pool.

  • Liked — Fairly close to the Mall of America.
  • Disliked — Extemely busy area.

The images available online through choice hotels are very deceptive, my room was tiny, damp and very smelly. I almost walked into the room and turned right around and left. I stay at hotels about 1/2 of the year, so I value things like full cable and good internet reception, which the hotel does have. The bedding was a 1 out of 10, same with furniture, my fridge didn't work, and had burn marks all over it. No elevator, no luggage cart, and stairs involved for all but two rooms. One small window leaving a very very dark room. Its not the worst I've ever stayed, but its a low quality hotel, not worth more than 50.00 a night, so unless you get a great deal, choose one of the other 1 star hotels that keeps their properties updated..

  • Liked — Nothing, I was vastly disappointed
  • Disliked — The price paid for room provided

This property is actually a Comfort Inn and not a Quality Inn as listed by Trip Advisor. While the hotel is clean and looks reasonably nice I did have some problems. The air conditioning in the first room I was given didn't work at all. Luckily I checked in early and I was given another room. The A/C was not extremely cold but if I turned the fan on high it was reasonable.

Other issues included possibly the worst shower as far as jumping from hot and cold that I've ever had. It was either too hot or too cold and it kept alternating. That fact alone would prevent me from recommending this hotel to anyone. Another annoyance was that the beds seemed to slope one way toward the night stand. A minor issue is that the parking lot is extremely tight and they've angled the spaces so you can only park in half of the spaces if you enter one way and the other half if you enter the lot at the other entrance.

On the positive side the hotel is clean and the lobby is attractive. It appears to be the closest hotel to Valleyfair Amusement Park as well.

  • Liked — Location near Valleyfair
  • Disliked — Fluctuating shower temperatures

If you are a non-smoker, and you need windows with screens, and clean carpet, and a clean mattress, and a clean bathroom, DON"T go there!!! The only good thing about this hotel, where the waffles, and Famous Daves, down the street.

  • Liked — The Waffles
  • Disliked — The Constent smell of smoke, and no ventilation.
  • Tips/Secrets — If you don't smoke Do Not!! Go there!

My wife and I stayed here twice, once in November of 2005, the other in the spring of 2006. The first time we stayed, we rented a king size one room suite with in room hot tub. The room also had a mini fridge and microwave. The bed was very comfortable, room was very clean, and was an exceptional value for the Twin Cities area.

The other time we stayed we had a standard queen room. It was great for just a one night stay. Again, great value for the room!

  • Liked — Price-Great Value for the Twin Cities area!
  • Disliked — It's a bit off the Interstate.
