We love Meritage - the service is excellent and generous. The ambiance is just the right mix of quiet and bustle, fancy and casual. You will feel comfortable here no matter how you're dressed, and you'll feel like you're surrounded by people who love food, everything about food.
The wine selection is deep and delicious, there is a great match for every meal.
And the cuisine. I've heard tell that Meritage is a 'chef driven restaurant', and after a small sampling of their menu, I now know what that means. The dishes are delicious and well presented, but somehow unpretentious. Maybe it's Chef Klein's passion for local cuisine, and the richness of local food in Minnesota with farms and game and wild morel mushrooms and garden fresh produce provides a rustic and diverse palate for tasty accessible food.
We ordered a salad and then the pork entree, three ways, and each one was a revelation. Yummier still was the Cotes du Rhone that paired so well with it.
