“Good, but very pricey.”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

We travel all over the country trying homemade ice cream, and Izzy's is certainly a top shelf one. But c'mon guys, you only have a store front, so your overhead isn't that much.... do you really need to overcharge your customers so much?

“Awesome Neighborhood Ice Cream Shop!”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

Izzy's is easily one of the best ice cream shops in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area! Located on Marshall Street between Cretin & Snelling Avenue, there is plenty of street parking available in the area.

The ice cream offerings are fantastic. The store churns out the traditional flavors every day (chocolate, vanilla, etc.) but also mixes up unique flavors, as well as kid-friendly favorites such as cotton candy or bubble gum. On our most recent stop they had flavors entitled 'Yeti,' a himalayan-inspired concoction, 'Ricotta' (sorry-none of us were brave enough to try it) and 'Green Apple' that was just like eating a creamy version of a honey crisp apple. Daily flavors are visible on wall monitors within the store so even if the line is long, and it does get that way on warm summer nights, you have time to peruse the daily choices and try what you want once you get to the coolers. You can also choose your eating option (5 types of cones or in a cup) as well so keep this in mind prior to ordering your flavors.

And if you're in the mood for just a little something to try, but don't want to do a full scoop, you can always make this your Izzy scoop on top. For those who haven't been here before, the Izzy scoop is a miniature scoop that you receive on top of any order you make, so if you just want a small amount of coffee ice cream on top of your chocolate brownie fudge ice cream, you can select the coffee as your Izzy scoop.

Seating is plentiful both inside and outside the shop and the neighborhood is safe and inviting, although make sure you keep track of small children as Marshall Avenue can be quite busy at times. Cost is also a factor at Izzy's. While not as expensive as places like Cold Stone Creamery, you can easily rack up a $20 final tab for a family of four, so make sure you bring a decent amount of cash. If not, they do accept credit cards as well.

“Packed but worth the wait”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Definitely the best ice cream in the twin cities. Try the Norwegian Chai. The izzy scoop is a little extra scoop they add on top. The best way to sample the flavors is to get your two "tastes", then a Split single (one scoop that includes two flavors) plus the izzy scoop on top. There, you've tried 5 delicious flavors in one visit! There is also a brand new Izzy's by the Guthrie in Minneapolis. It's still so new there's no line!

“Delicious Ice Cream”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

We had the vanilla, which is made with Nielsen Massey's Pure Bourbon Vanilla Extract, the chocolate, and our favorite - the salted caramel, which is to die for! They are also now serving Izzy's at Punch Neapolitan Pizza so you can try two of the local's favorites at once!
