“Beautiful Atmosphere”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

There were 4 of us for a special occasion - Christmas Party Lunch. Even though I had made a request for a nice table when I called for the reservation, and again when we arrived, the host did not deliver. It was not busy so there were plenty of tables, but we were told there was a private party. Still....I was able to see they had many rooms that only had one table being used. We were seated at the first table, just inside the first room... Hmmmm. We were not to be disallusioned however!
The decor was beautiful. A wonderful old building with so much character! We started with cocktails. One of us had the Bloody Mary. It was excellent, but I would recommend the Minnesota 374, a mixture of gin, lemon, sparkling soda and topped with champagne. Very refreshing. On to lunch. We had the White fish - just okay. Cuban Panini - better. Udon Noodle Bowl - very good. Autumn Salad - my favorite: a mixture of greens with apple, cranberry nut granola, bleu cheese with an apple vinagarette dressing. The menu was abbrevated from the one that we had perused on line. So that was disappointing. Service was fine. Dessert Trio was excellent. Carrot Cake - good, Creme Brulee-very good, Kit Kat with Chai Ice Cream - the best!. Prices were what would be expected for a nice occasion. Overall - a good experience...but could have been better.

“Bad Service”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

We specifically made early reservations as we had an event to be at following dinner. We told our waitress who said it will not be an issue.
We had ordered a bottle of wine and one of the people ordered her own glass of wine. It took at least 25 minutes before her wine arrived, even after mentioning it twice. Also requested a spoon so some soup could be shared and again needed to remind her twice and still no spoon.
Had to request the bill since it was past the time when we needed to leave. Needless to say we were late for the concert.
Servrer short with her responses and not attentive with our party of 6.

“LOVE WA Frost”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

My wife and I have been going to WA Frost once a year on a special occasion for 6-7 years and every dinner there has been incredible. We love everything from the building to the atmosphere, energy and, of course, the food. We have never been disappointed. As other reviewers have said, it is not cheap but the food is worth it and the service and atmosphere just add to the experience. We have been ordering the five-course tasting menu and every single time they go five-for-five. How often can you say that. Service is always off the charts - staff is very attentive but not too much so. In the winter when the fire is going, it is so cozy in there. I can't say enough about this restaurant.

“Overpriced but nice food”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

If I had to chose between WA Frost and Forepaugh's I would easily chose the latter. The prices and food are better at Forepaugh's. WA Frost over charges in my mind. I don't mind paying for good food or for ambience but this is only for big spenders. The Twin Cities has lots of great restaurants and wonderful chefs that don't break the bank. The food is good but not that much better than other quality restaurants in town.

“Still talking about this absolutely great restaurant”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

We were visiting our nephew who lives in St. Paul and wanted to take him somewhere special for dinner. He had taken clients to lunch here and thought we might enjoy going for dinner. From the moment we walked in the door, we knew we were in for a wonderful experience. And that it was, from the service, the drinks and wine choices, the delicious cheese plate, followed by salads and entrees. And oh yes, we must tell you to try the dessert trio sampler. What a way to end our experience. We felt the price was right on for the experience. And the ambiance couldn't be topped, The beautiful architecture of this quaint building, the art work and the lighting are just a few of the many things that make this place so inviting. I would have to say this was one of our best restaurant experiences ever.
