Make sure to visit Landmark Center if you're in downtown St. Paul and love old architecture. The old St. Paul courthouse was thankfully spared the wrecking ball. The atrium is stunning. Be sure to check out the beautifully ornate courtrooms within the building, too. Also, visit the Schubert Club Museum on the second floor to see a fine antique musical instrument collection. Admission is free.

Thank you, so much! Our Visitor Information Service Desk volunteers couldn't have said it any better than you did. Visitors should allow plenty of time to stroll through the building, or perhaps take a guided tour, and then visit our two free museums. Good thing we have a restaurant in the building, because a 3 - 4 hour visit is normal! Please come back and visit again.

View the old ornate courtrooms where famous trials were held. View the woodworking museum. And see the Schubert Club and listen to instruments from the 1700s, 1800s, 1900s.

Thanks, Joe, for your kind remarks about our beautiful and historic Landmark Center! I am so glad you were able to visit, and self-tour throughout the building. I must make one correction, however: although many famous gangsters from the 1930s were brought to trial in Landmark Center, John Dillinger was not among them! Although Dillinger resided in Saint Paul for a while, he never ventured inside the Federal Court House (now Landmark Center), although his girlfriend, Evelyn "Billie" Freschette was tried and convicted here, as was Public Enemy #1 Alvin "Creepy" Karpis. Visitors can learn more about Saint Paul's "gangster-haven-days" at Landmark Center's interpretive "Uncle Sam Worked Here" panels throughout the building!

The Landmark Center is an historic building in the center of St. Paul. You can usually count on various events during the weekends and during weekdays there are small museums and musical events scheduled. Check an events calendar. And when you're there visit some of the historic courtrooms in the building. Well worth the time.
