We also enjoy our yearly visit to Como Park. Many of the animals are able to enjoyed close up. The amusement park and water area are well worth your time and money. Especially if you have younger children. The water pad has tons to do and has many well shaded areas to sit if you want a break from the sun.

Taking the children or grandchildren to the zoo is always so much fun at Como Zoo. For the most part there is no pressure to move on before you are ready and the staff always seems to be available to guide your journey.

We spent a warm winter day (50 degrees in December) at the Como Zoo with our kids ages 15 and 20. Even though the kids are older now, the zoo holds special memories of many visits over their growing years and I don't think it will ever get old for them or us (mom and dad). The animals are so beautiful, even though their habitats, sadly, are quite small for them. The zoo is clean and it appears that the animals are well cared for. All the walks were nicely cleared of snow and ice.

The Conservatory was beautiful as always... such a tropical retreat in the middle of a cold Minnesota winter. Paradise!

Café had a nice selection of various foods and drinks. Good quality for this type of attraction.

I am so happy that we decided to take a trip to the Como Zoo. We are left with the memory of a fun afternoon together as a family. Thanks to the staff for all their hard work keeping this classic St. Paul attraction as great as ever. We were more than happy to pay the suggested donation fee. A great value!

This place is beautiful year round, and as others have mentioned, it is free and open 365 days of the year! But when the winter throws you one of those deep freezer days (like -20F), entering the tropical gardens is a magical experience. You are immediately transported to the tropics, heat, humidity and all, and it feels great! The Sunken Gardens changes seasonally, so it's a place you can return multiple times of the year. Don't miss it, for locals and visitors alike!

The Como Zoo is free with a suggested donation and could easily charge admission. They have nicely spread out grounds with as many different animals as you'd expect as a pay-for zoo. They also have a separate area with rides and a pool for kids.

On a separate note: we had our wedding reception in the Great Hall and it was gorgeous. Everyone raved about the venue.
