The Minnesota Fair, also called the "Great Minnesota Get Together", is one of the largest State Fairs you can attend. You really almost need two full days to take it all in, because there's so much to see and do.

The free live music with well known artists is one my favorite daily events. The huge selection and choices for food favorites and unique specialties is another drawing point. Well known and top name artists, bands and performers are evening events with tickets sold in advance and at the gate. The midway also offers a large selection of rides and games.

You can expect large crowds at this Fair, so this means the fairgrounds parking lots can be difficult to find a parking space. Upwards to 2 Million visitors in a ten day period. Instead, I suggest that you consider using one of the many designated sites that has dedicated "to and from" State Fair transportation. These buses operate daily from early morning to late night and are inexpensive to use.

A summer in Minnesota is not complete without a trip to the State Fair. Great food is the main attraction, personally. Rides are entertaining as well, with something for everyone, and of course there's the baby animals barn. I recommend the baby pigs. How cute! Fun for the entire family here.

The Minnesota State Fair has something for everyone. We went this past summer and had a blast. I loved the addition of O'Gara's Bar...they have wonderful pork sliders and great entertainment and you can sit inside or outside. Also you will find fantastic Chicago Dogs in The Garden (where they also have karaoke). There are many free music stages and also they have some real great shows in the Grandstand. There are also many radio stations that broadcast live from the fair, my favorite being "Garage Logic" with Joe Soucheray. There are wonderful educational and creative activities buildings to walk through whether you want to look at fine arts, the largest pumpkin, champion pies and pickles, or even Christmas trees. Don't forget the 4-H building, they always have some impressive displays. Also there is a coliseum where you can watch a rodeo and there are many animal buildings to see including livestock, sheep, swine and more and of course there are many rides and games in the midway. This is just the tip of the iceberg but a great place to have some fun.
