Ok so my husbands from Minnesota but...the first year we went I knew we had to keep coming back. The first year we brought the kids but quickly realized that we much enjoy the fair without them (don't worry, we bring them on another day). It's awesome to get a group of friends together, grab a blue ribbon value book and hit the pavement for food, drinks & entertainment. From the walleye cakes to garlic fries, poutine, deep fries twinkies and of course big bacon on a stick...don't forget the Grain Belt beer! Love coming, can't wait until next year!

We do the free park & ride. It's a great service. I recently read the fair is on 320 acres. Lots and lots to do and see. Also, now, it has designated smoking areas. As a non-smoker with a child along, I really appreciated that. If you plan to eat fair food, it does save to buy the coupon book. There is a sign in the windows of each vendor that offers a coupon. If you can only afford the ticket, you can carry in your own food (if your willing to carry it around), and see lots of things. There are many great free shows. The more money you can spend, the more there is to do and see.

We had a busy day at the fair. Eating weird fair food and seeing all the sites. Wish it was cooler and less crowded---what can you say?

I have been going to the fair every year for over fifty years. It's like an old hat that just feels really comfortable every time you put it on. All the old standard fair food-mini donuts, corn dogs, fresh turkey sandwiches, cheese curds, fresh chocolate cookies and all the milk you can drink plus new foods each year-deep fried whatever and just about anything you can dream of on-a-stick. Terrific people watching and an opportunity to see all the local radio and tv personalities. Can't miss Ye Olde Mill-nearly one hundred years of tradition. Although it signals the end of summer, it ushers in the beginning of fall. Summer isn't over until you have been to the Fair.

My family comes to the fair multiple times a year, I live in Chicago so only get here every few years. Amazing offerings in all areas, crafters, artisans, farm and garden equipment, technology and innovation, farm animals (see birthing barn to), rides, and more! The food is awesome and such a variety to choose from, new things every year! Everyone loves it and we all have our favorites!
