We've biked, ran and walked Summit Ave many times. There are some really nice houses to look at and very nice bike lanes. I bike it several times each week and really appreciate the great old houses.

Thank Perry L

Followed the advice of several other reviewers and started with tour of St. Paul Cathedral and James J Hill Mansion. There is a sign right on Summit Ave. in front of the cathedral's parking log that gives you the addresses of the most historic homes on the street for reference. We took a pic of the sign to refer back to as we walked along the boulevard. F. Scott Fitzgerald's historic townhome has a marker out front, but many of the others don't. The street can get a little busy depending on the day, so if weather and time allows, a walk is the best way to see and take in everything this lovely area has to offer.

Start at the St. Paul Cathedral and drive towards the Mississippi River along this iconic boulevard. One block from the Cathedral, stop and tour the magnificent James Hill Mansion. Then, continue your dive down Summit Avenue where you will pass one of the homes of F. Scott Fitzgerald, the William Mitchell School of Law, magnificent late 1800 and early 1900 mansions, the home of the governor and finally St. Thomas University. Well worth the drive.

Great fun exploring the childhood neighborhood of F. Scott Fitzgerald. Sinclair Lewis and August Wilson also lived on this lovely avenue, but we weren't able to locate their homes.
