Blown-away from check-in on: When I booked my room, I'd asked for the Mayo rate but it wasn't available via online portal. The check-in host read my note & found a room $35 less than I expected - win!

Room Tip: There are some 'paired down' rooms, meant for longer-term visitors/ Mayo patients. They have...

So happy that the Kahler accommodated by request for the type of room that I wanted. Thank you. Wish the food tray was taken back by some other room in a timely manner, it sat in the hall for over 12 hours.

Room Tip: Ask for what you want and they will do their best to accomodate

We chose this hotel for 1 reason, and that was because the U of M offers a 50% discount here.

Upon our arrival for Friday-Sunday we were pleasantly greeted. All staff was very nice. We did upgrade to a nicer room, and I am glad we did. The"Nice" rooms are what I would call Average. I did catch a peek of the standard rooms, and they looked dingy and tiny. The pool was nice and quiet. Not many kids, which was relaxing.Hotel is old, could use updates. Martini's Lounge was great! Upon checkout we were notified we didn't qualify for the 50% discount thru the U of M. Bummer! Wished we knew that before! But, overall, an ok stay. I would consider staying again, but wouldn't mind finding something a little nicer.

Room Tip: Get the upgraded room! A MUST!

Great place to stay for Mayo business. Underground access to all facilities. Efficiency rooms are a real value. Not fancy but clean and comfortable at an affordable price.

Staff, especially front desk, is very attentive.

January 12, 2014 I made a reservation at this place for 5 nights. We reserved a kitchenette from 2/26-3/3. My young daughter was having open heart surgery and we were all under a tremendous amount of stress. We made sure we had enough room for all of us to share this room and be able to save money cooking our own meals. Check-in time was 3pm. We arrived at noon and decided to see if our room was ready early. The woman at the front desk was super sugar sweet when she said "Your room won't be ready until 3pm". We left to go to our daughters consultation and had lunch. We returned at 3pm to check in. The rude jerk behind the counter said "Ooops there's a problem. The people in that room decided to stay over. We can put you in a double room with a fridge and microwave for $130.00/night!!" They would charge us $19 less for this other room?? REALLY?? How could we possibly feed everyone with $19 a day?? How the hell is that helping? Why weren't the stay overs sent to the double since they were the ones who changed their minds?? Now it became our problem and worry that we were not expecting. This hotel is full of liars that inconvenience people who are already under so much stress they could burst!! Due to the irresponsibility of this hotel, we were forced to switch rooms every night and struggled to find rooms big enough to accommodate all of us and leave enough money to eat. Also there were sports tournaments in town so finding a room was almost impossible! I would never advise anyone to even try to reserve a room here since reservations mean NOTHING!! I will keep my confirmation emails from these scumbags for this trip to show anyone who wants to see them. I will be posting everywhere possible so others can avoid this trap.

Room Tip: RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! They are nothing but liars and don't care about hurting people w...

We stayed 8 days. The room/bathroom was very small and cramped. Old hotel. We had a microwave and small refrigerator. I had surgery on day 5. It was so conveniently located to Mayo and shops etc., we never had to go outside when it was -14. We found it adequate for the cost. The restaurants within the hotel were pricey but found a great restaurant (Chesters) connected by the mezzanine level that we ate at nightly.

Very nice room and very quiet. Food was good at the grill but a little overpriced. Great place to stay. Staff was very friendly. Wish the parking garage was totally finished, seems to be taking a long time to complete.
