“Makes a trip to Mayo enjoyable”
Reviewed April 19, 2014 via mobile

We have stayed in many hotels, and many Marriott's-- this is a great little hotel catering to the needs of those coming here to see doctors, having treatments or visiting Rochester's Mayo Clinic. The staff could not be more accommodating. They are caring, professionals that make you smile despite the reason you may be at Mayo. The location is a 5 minute indoor walk from the main clinic buildings. The food is really good, the room was VERY clean. I do not understand anyone giving this place a negative review. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay. We are here a week, and have not tired of staff, restaurant or room. Even the shower is good!
We choose the right hotel. You would not go wrong staying here while at Mayo.

My family of four just stayed at the Marriott in Rochester. We booked our room 6 months out requesting a double queen. We called 2 days before our check in date to confirm we are still good to go. We were assured we had a double queen. When we got there, there was no double queens left, so we had to take a king. People in our group showed up after us and received a double queen. Really? No queens available!! They charged us for a rollaway after they would not give us a queen. The staff complained that our children in the pool area were being too loud in the pool area. This was at 2 pm and there were only 6 children in the pool! They were not very loud at all. We were not allowed to leave our rooms after 10pm. Our group of 15 families were socializing quietly in an area the hotel staff said we could be and security told us we had to leave the area because the staff did not want us there. We talked to the GM Tracy and she told us "she hopes we never come back! The Marriott caters to Mayo Clinic patients, not sporting events". Our families spent a lot of money at this hotel and we were treating like we were in prison.

Room Tip: If you are coming here for an event held at the civic center (i.e. Hockey, wrestling, basketball tou...

So sorry to hear about your experience. Please know that we do try to take care of all guests needs in all areas including noise in the pool area. Please do not take it personally if other guests are sensitive to some loud noises. We do try to accomodate everyone in every way we possibly can including room types.

Probably in the scope of the Marriott flag average or slightly above. Pretty routine rooms that are clean and on the large side. Bathroom is efficient but dated.

Key to this property is the proximity to Mayo. It's perfect and a short underground walk to the Mayo Clinic. It's the best you have to choose from especially if your are visiting Mayo.

Staff works hard and they were helpful.

There are 2 things I can say good maybe even great on this review, the location and most of the staff. The hotel itself was not clean in most of the common areas. The bathroom in the pool area smelled like a sewer had backed up for the entire visit (5 days). The workout area was hot and FILTHY, the fans were not working the first day and the equipment was not well maintained. I ordered room service and I would never do that again, YUKE! The room itself was ok but the noise level from the road was unbelievable, 4 or 5 in the morning trucks backing up with the obnoxious beep-beep-beep. But truly the cleanliness was unbelievably bad especially in connection with the hospital. The hospital always had hand sanitizer and the building was very clean.

Room Tip: pick a room away from the street

This is the 4th different hotel we have stayed at for Mayo clinic over the years, hands down the best one yet. it is directly in the middle of everything, with the hotel elevator going to the Mayo Clinic subways system.

John at the front desk was wonderful during check-in and made you feel welcomed. Rooms were nice and clean and had a much better vibe in the rooms than other around Mayo. The concierge level for the Elite members or concierge level rooms has a wonderful social hour and breakfast, a big a plus.

Didn't stay here in the past because it was always much more pricey, now i know why... But you do get what you pay for.

overall excellent, worth the extra money to stay here.

I recently stayed at the Rochester Marriott recently while on a business trip. This hotel is quite large and has all of the amenities that you expect in an upscale, expensive, hotel. The staff are very courteous and the restaurant on the main floor is convenient and offers very good food at a decent prices.

The rooms are quite spacious, very clean, well furnished and comfortable.

The Marriott Hotel Rochester MN is centrally located just a very short walk via open air, or the tunnel network, to the Mayo Clinic buildings and to the rest of the city. Located on one of the main streets in the very center of town, the hotel is just a short walk to restaurants, the shops at University Square, etc.

This hotel’s location makes it somewhat more convenient than the less-expensive Marriott Residence Inn which is a few blocks away; however, Rochester is such a small city that all of the hotels are pretty much convenient to everything. The room prices at the Rochester Marriott Mayo Clinic are high for a small Midwestern city, but the accommodations are very comfortable, and they are definitely on a level above the Residence Inn. Therefore, you are paying more for the extra comfort, being a few blocks closer to everything, and being able to dine in at the restaurant off the lobby.

The staff was very accommodating. Upon checking in I asked John at the front desk to book a taxi to the airport for my very early morning departure. He was great in not only doing so, but also in following up shortly afterwards with a phone call to my room to verify that he had made the arrangement for the appointed time, providing me with the name of the taxi company.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have little or no street noise
