“Great food, feels like a classic steakhouse, which it is!”
Reviewed March 9, 2013 via mobile

Go for the food, the classic feel, and the value. My favorite cut is a ribeye, medium well. Michael's didn't disappoint. Others in my party had steak and lobster and were very pleased, all very well priced. Great service from the staff.

“Well known resturaunt in immediate Mayo Clinic area.”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

Nice place to stop for lunch in between clinic visits or drive and park for dinner for supper in the free parking area reserved for patrons. Hard to rate a place as well known as Michaels for over 50 years. Excellent food offerings, including slightly downsized portions for early diners for dinner. It always has been a good place to dine, just seems like would benefit from some upgrade in some food items. Perhaps fresh not fresh thawed seafood or so it seems. Try to eliminate the tastes like fresh frozen seafood. Steaks and burgers are excellent. Classic dining atmosphere with different themed rooms but mostly fitting the same general context. Hard to improve on a classic but believe the owners are already at work on this.

“Best steaks in town”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

Michael's offers top-notch food, drinks and service. The atmosphere is 1950s supper club style with a similar menu. Steaks are always seasoned and cooked perfectly to order, you don't need sauces because the flavor of the corn-fed beef is wonderful. The soups are home-made and I recommend Michael's signature Greek lemon soup. They have many tasty potato sides and a steamed vegetable choice. Mixed drinks and wines are very reasonably priced but the wine list is not extensive. The staff have all been at Michael's for years and everyone treats you like family. From the valets, the host/hostess, to the wait staff they make you feel welcome and want to be sure that you are happy. Given the great food and service, we are able to look beyond the atmosphere and are regulars at Michael's.

“Not for people under 55”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

Atmosphere is for elderly. Very stuffy and old feeling.

We will not be back.

I am sure the steak is good, but not exactly a place for a family with kids

“No school like the old school”
Reviewed February 25, 2013 via mobile

Here's the deal with Micheal's. Its old school. But the food is outstanding. Steaks done to perfection. Sides incredibly tasty. And drinks well mixed. In Rochester, you simply can't beat Michael's for an amazing sit down, old fashion meal. And if you appreciate a bit of history, the dark, somewhat musty, 1950's type atmosphere, then you're set. Enjoy. Not my 100% favorite atmosphere, but I can't deny the food was top notch.

My only knock, consistent with other reviewers, is the gas station like bathrooms. Let's just say there's opportunity there.
