“Classic steak house ambiance with excellent food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2011

Visited Michael's with a group of approximately twenty colleagues. Ordered from a limited menu of three choices tenderloin, walleye, or ribs. Another three choices for the side dish - baked potato, au gratin potatoes, or broccoli. A variety of tasty appetizers graced each table to share. I chose the tenderloin which was cooked just the way I like it (rare) with a salad. I also enjoyed the au gratin potatoes which were divine and "melts in your mouth". My own dessert choice of the Christmas Struedel was served with cinnamon ice cream and Christmas sprinkles. Definitely a dessert to order again.

“Our Old Standby .... Each visit a Must. Thanks!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2011

We have been to Rochester 11 times now to visit Mayo Clinic.
Our first visit we found Michael's. It meant walking outside and it was snowing but we made it there. We were not disappointed in any way. If you go....have a steak...mouth watering and delicious. Now it is a must and I hate slipping and sliding in snow.

“Very good food, service and excellent location but a trifle spendy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2011

Michael's is located in downtown Rochester and is recommended by nearly everyone I ran into who had an opinion. It is not directly attached to "the underground" but a short walk through a covered parking garage brings you to the main entrance. It's dark and quiet on the inside. Very tastefully decorated despite the 100 or so pictures of the celebrities who have visited. The service was almost smothering (but it was just before the dinner rush) but friendly and not over-bearing. A moderate amount of menu items ranging from $18-40ish. All of the food was excellent. I had a large Prime Rib which was cooked exactly as I ordered it; it was melt in your mouth quality with an excellent flavor. The salad was good and the mini-bread sticks were tasty. My glasses of water and tea were never empty. It was a very enjoyable eating establishment.
