We ended up at this hotel in March of 2011 when another hotel had lost our reservations; it was a blessing in disguise. We have traveled to Mayo Clinic many times since then and ALWAYS stay at the Residence Inn Rochester Mayo Clinic Area. It is out of the way of the hustle and bustle of the clinic yet close enough to quickly walk via the subway tunnel....very easy access to anything downtown without feeling like you are right down town. The hotel is clean and comfortable with most of the comforts of home. It is wonderful to have a place to feel relaxed and at ease during a times that can be medically stressful. The staff is wonderfully courteous and accommodating and the breakfasts served each morning are restaurant-worthy. We wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Room Tip: No fault of the hotel itself, during certain times of the year (March/April), there are accumulating...

Stayed there in November, 2013. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would guess that most guests staying there have some medical issue and are patients at the hospitals. This can make for some interesting conversations during the 'breakfast rush'. The breakfast though is good and plentiful - many choices. Rooms are somewhat dated BUT the hotel connects to the hospitals via an underground tunnel so you do not have to walk through the cold in the winter. The hotel is also very close to all the good restaurants 'downtown'. One regret is that there is not enough covered parking available. Most of the parking is in an outdoor lot at the far end of the block. Still, it's a good choice for a stay related to the Maya Clinic and we will stay there again.

Room Tip: ask for covered parking ahead of time

I would recommend this Residence Inn by Marriott and would definitely stay again! It was a great experience all around. We arrived early for a morning appointment and Lauralee at the front desk was wonderful and very accommodating and helpful. We were able to check in early and she made me feel at ease. Parking was very simple at the hotel and then to get to the actual clinic was such an easy task from this location, as well as other restaurants and shops were in easy walking distance and you did not have to go outside. The hotel itself was very clean and breakfast was good.

We recommend Residence Inn Rochester Mayo Clinic!!! They have very clean, spacious rooms and you are cared for by a staff that takes an interest in you personally and providing for you what ever you require to make your stay the very best.

We have stayed there 3 different times and find it to be a well maintained, quiet hotel! Also, it is connected via the subway to Mayo, Methodist Hospital, and many other eating places.

The Residence Inn Rochester Mayo Clinic Area rates on top for clean rooms. Bri is a very sweet, personable gal who is genuinely concern with making you comfortable. She keeps the rooms immaculate and well stocked. She is always available to fetch you what ever you might need.

Lauralee greets you at the front desk. She is a delight! It is because of Lauralee we returned. Lauralee is on the top of my list for going over and above the call of duty in helping secure the best possible reservations. She has a way of making you feel as though you have known her all your life as she also makes you feel like you are the most important person. The wonderful thing about her is that she treats all the guests the same. How special everyone must feel! Lauralee is a gem, a real "keeper"!

Jackie is so very nice! She has a lovely smile and a willingness to provide what ever you need. She makes the best breakfasts ever! We always enjoy seeing her, too!

I rated this Marriott inn last year and had some complaints. There have been improvements in several areas. Front desk staff is more helpful, updated carpeting, added machines in workout room, beds are very comfortable, and quiet.

You are paying for location here and it is great. Underground tunnel (they call it the subway) connects to everything at Mayo and downtown stores. Great for a walking workout. Very safe. Lots of staff in tunnels and they are very helpful. Quick story--friend of mine was returning from Mayo in the subway and was exhausted and sat down. Mayo doctor noticed her distress and accompanied her back to the hotel. Fifty percent of the city works at Mayo so they are everywhere and they are friendly and helpful--if they see you need help they don't wait for you to ask.

Breakfast still needs improvement. You can rent a room for a month and avoid some taxes.
Nice extras like grocery pickup, nice big colorful maps of the area. Large rooms, kitchens, flat screen TV's in every room.

They are not busy on weekends so you should be able to get better rates.

We stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn during my husband's stem cell transplant at the Mayo Clinic and it was excellent! The one bedroom suite was clean and roomy and offered full kitchen, micro, dishwasher, and full-side refrigerator. The hotel provided complimentary grocery service, which proved a godsend as we could not go out in crowds once the procedure started. They also did a "deep clean" on his actual transplant day and then provided clean linens and trash emptying without entering the room after that, to minimize outside contact. We took advantage of their generous and tasty hot breakfasts each morning. Unlike some complimentary breakfasts that only offer cold items and pastries, the Marriott breakfasts always included scrambled eggs, a breakfast meat, and potatoes, in addition to a waffle maker, breads and bagels, yogurt, hold and cold cereal, and fresh fruit. The staff was friendly and professional and sincerely eager to serve. And, the Mayo campus was easily accessible through the subway system, even when we needed to go in for an emergency visit late in the evening, so we did not need to use cabs or head out into what proved to be a pretty grim winter landscape in January! We highly recommend the Marriott Residences for your Mayo visit!

We stayed here about 9 days, and it was fine. Its location is very good when you are a patient at the Mayo Clinic (or a family member), especially in the winter as you can get around indoors using the underground walkways (Subway) or above ground (Skyway).

It was quite expensive, especially in comparison to some other hotels, but did have the full size refrigerator and a stovetop--although our Studio King did not offer an oven. Still, it was much better than a micro-fridge room.

The room was comfortable and relatively nicely appointed. In addition to a sofa/sofabed, it had a separate desk, and a kitchen table and chairs. Bed was comfortable.

Most residences offer weeknight snacks with beer and wine 4 nights a week, but they only did this Mon-Wed, and the offerings were less than great. And, they didn't offer beer or wine, which had many folks grumbling, as this location is not near any good grocery or liquor stores.

Housekeeping was good, except despite being told not to touch the recycling I'd set aside to take across to the bins, each day they trashed them.

Breakfast wasn't bad, with a few good options including fresh pineapple some mornings. They varied the main dish, so sometimes they had more than just scrambled eggs, and of course the waffles and continental breakfast stuff. However, the common room was small and the tables for breakfast were hard to come by.

There was no pool or hot tub, which we sorely missed.

Also the hotel doesn't offer its own shuttle service, but relies on the Mayo Shuttle on weekdays (which only goes to the clinic and hospitals--although if you learn where places are, you can get stuff done within walking distance of St. Mary's if it's not too cold) and the WalMart shuttle also runs 6 days a week --but that's a 40 minute ride each way, so it takes planning.

Guest laundry is good and not too expensive at $1 each a washer load and dryer load--and I always got my clothes dry in one cycle.

It was extremely cold during our stay, and the hallway was very cold.

The guests are a melange of various cultures, and it's not uncommon to get to the small common room and see the TV set to an Arabic or other foreign station.

Would we go back? Yes, if we had a short stay and needed the convenience of downtown. The price makes it prohibitive for a long stay for most people. But it is also great for those with people at the Mayo Methodist Hospital, as you can come and go at all hours without fear, and don't need a taxi. I never felt unsafe in the subway, regardless of the time of day.

Room Tip: Our room faced the Catholic church, so we did hear church bells daily. It did not bother us, but if...
