Bring some bread and watch the wild Canadian geese and Mallard ducks flock around you to get some of your tidbits! It is an experience you will never forget. Like to walk? Take the route all the way around the lake...it is beautiful!

So we hear 'everyone' takes their kids to Silver Lake Park....um, why? There's geese poop everywhere, I mean everywhere. Who wants their kids walking through that, the entire park is all poop, you can't even see the ground. It's gross and disgusting.

If you want to nearly wade in duck and goose do-do, this place is for you. I wouldn't waste my time, unless I had lot's of time to kill before my colonoscopy at the Clinic.

They have a nice trail around the lake, several picnic areas and a really nice playground area (which is across the road from the lake itself). However, the lake is incredibly stinky from all the goose poop and the trail is often covered in crap .... hence the 3 star rating.

The unique thing about Silver Lake is that it is the water source for the power plant in Rochester, so the water never ices over making this the "southern" destination of choice for Canadian Honkers (geese). Apparently this is quite rare. In recent years the geese have become such a nuisance that the city has taken measures to try to keep them off the grass, so if you see lines with shiny streamers on them or that sort of thing, that's what it is all about. I used to drive by there some fall mornings on my way to work and see rowing teams out there fluidly moving through the fog, which was a breathtaking sight. You can rent paddle boat to toodle around the lake if you wish.
