“Closed Mondays”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2014

This was a bit hidden - lower level place to eat close to Main St. We had to go back the next day to enjoy the food. We were there for a late lunch and I had the burger which was on a wonderful toasted fresh bun. The burger tasted great and I would go back again. My friends both liked their choices as well.

“Good Afternoon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2014

Let me preface this by saying my rating is strictly based on what we had to eat and drink, but that wasn't a lot. We weren't there for a big meal.

Good friendly service. Seated quickly. We visited on a Sunday afternoon.

Drinks arrived quickly. One of us had the house riesling, and it was pronounced decent. One had a tap beer. Nice selection of taps that wasn't particularly hugh, but ran the gamut with something for everyone. It was interesting and appreciated that the cheap tap beer (although available) was not listed on the beer list.

Split an order of onion rings. quite good. hand cut and battered. Could have been a bit warmer, but server (one only) was pretty overloaded at the time.

Also split the philly cheesteak standwich. Totally marvelous. We each got a half as well as a cup of au jus, and potato chips that were also in the A+ category. Sandwich with really fine strips of prime rib, and our requested cream cheese really made this a treat.

All in all, a very satisfying mid-afternoon snack in one of the nicer Mississippi River towns in Minnesota.

I'd say the only distraction was the taste of our glass of water supplied by the Red Wing water company. Not the fault of Marie's.

“All the great options you're looking for!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2013 via mobile

Okay, hopefully it doesn't seem like I'm getting loose with the 4 star reviews, but seriously, for the price of Marie's Underground (not called Casual Dining & Lounge anymore), you get some awesome and unique food.

We started with a flight of beers (they have a stellar list), their homemade potato chips and cheese dip, and cheese curds with their homemade marinara sauce. All were fantastic. We should've saved some, because we definitely didn't leave enough room for the pizza. Ah, the pizza. So Marie's has specialty pizzas (basically very non-traditional). As we were trying to figure out what we wanted, the server informed us that they will do half and half on any pizza, meaning, we could do half one style and half another. That was great, since there are so many to try. We did the bacon mac 'n cheese on one half, and Caesar salad on the other - and they were phenomenal. Had one more flight of beers before wrapping up the night.

So, after having two flights, two appetizers, and a medium half and half pizza, we were expecting a hefty bill. Not at all. In fact, it was cheaper than most chain restaurants!

The place itself was fairly empty, but you can imagine it would be pretty cool if it were filled up. Has a little of the old supper club feel to it, with the semi-circle leather booths and old wood styling. We thought it was pretty cool. Agreed with some others, the food took some time, but it was worth it in the end. We'll be back. Just another gem in Red Wing - who would've thought that town would have so many good places?

“Great Staff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2013

We were just visitng for a day in Red wing so we decided to have dinner here. It was around 5 PM and noone was in the bar/restaurant...it was dead. The place is really nice and huge and it was odd they didn't have anyone there until we looked at the menu. Did not look good at all. The place actaully smelled like a chinese restaurant which it isn't and had decor that reminded me of it. If they worked on the lay out and the menu it could be a really great place because the staff were AWESOME!!! I tried a new sho called the salted nut roll.... now one of my favorites.. Go in for a drink atleast because the staff are great.
