We spent an afternoon in Red Wing for a mini vaca to get away from the Cities. Settled on Bev's for lunch. Must have hit the busy time for a Friday lunch hour, only two servers working in the small cafe. We sat 10 minutes before any service, but when it came it was very polite and nice. Food was home cooking: Chicken strip platter and Club sandwich. I was excited to find a place that had melted cheese sauce for my Chicken strips, I know odd. Overall a cute, cozy experience and great if you are not in a rush. We would return after trying other new places in Red Wing. Plus: breakfast served all day!

Bev's Cafe is a small 1950's-60's era cafe in a tourist town that is frequented mostly by the town locals. It is known for its home-cooked meals and is a popular meeting place for coffee drinkers. Part of the "Old Time Charm" is the use of an old school blackboard to list the ever changing menu and specials of the day. The menu items change daily and the portions are good. If you are looking to step back in time and get away from that "franchise" fueled venue, you just might enjoy becoming one of the "locals" for a meal at Bev's.

We were searching for a local place for breakfast on our recent trip to Red Wing. Bev's was the perfect spot. We found a friendly and homey restaurant full of happy diners. We ordered the scramblers with bacon and sausage. The hash brown mixture was delicious and homemade - not those frozen hash brown squares! The portions were large - we could have shared a scrambler, but we each finished our own skillet! Yummy!

I enjoyed eating with some friends at Bev's Cafe because it was a home environment and cozy. Bev's has also participated in a local fundraising activity for a non-profit which some friends organized. Community service is important, and Bev's stepped into helping.

Small and popular. Great menu choices. Had a scrambler and wanted to lick the plate. Be willing to wait for a table in small quarters. A local hangout.
