What started out as a romantic getaway turned into a nightmare away from home. The atmosphere was fine - nice old house. When we went to our room, we found long hairs in the bathroom. Ok...fine we ignored it and just cleaned it up. After having dinner out, we went back to our room and it wasn't until bedtime that we realized we weren't going to get a good nights sleep. The bed had a large dip in the middle, so my husband and I kept rolling into the dip(it was like falling into a hole), the pillows were flat(not plush at all) and then there constant noise from trains all night. For $200.00 a night, you would expect something more than what we got. We decided to get up and leave to drive home at 1:15 am after it was clear we would not get any sleep. In all the years of traveling, we have never left in the middle of the night. That's how awful it was for us.
The worse was yet to come! When I called to see if there could be any resolution with the owners. I was accused of being rude to the staff(I had hardly talked to the staff other than to get restaurant suggestions) and one of them hung up on me before I could tell her about our experience. It was the strangest encounter I have ever had. There was zero interest in learning more and/or providing customer service to unhappy customers. We were told that it was us and nothing they had done. They were going to refund even a portion of our stay and if we called again (we had called and only left 1 message), they would call the police. Again, the strangest experience we have ever had in all our travels. I would NOT suggest THE MOONDANCE INN, RED WING, MINNESOTA.
