“Good location and food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2012

We spent 3 days at Voyageurs National Park and had lots of lodges to choose from. We selected Arrowhead mostly because it offered food, a rarity in this isolated part of the country. Betsy was an excellent cook and the breakfasts were to die for, particularly the bacon and pancakes. Homemade desserts were another treat. Loved the lodge built in the 1930s, but one has to expect the shared plumbing facilities to be a little quirky. Our room was large, comfortable and overlooked the lake. Excellent wi-fi connection as well as traditional games and puzzles. Larry will give tours of the Lake and I wish I had known that before booking the Park Service tour.

Room Tip: With a view of the lake.

We stayed there with a family party of 8 people and occupied 3 upstairs rooms in the lodge. The building is old with lots of character. It is not a modern building (for example - the bathrooms are down the hall) but it has loads of charm. The owners truly cater to your needs and make you feel like family.

I recommend this place highly.

I stayed there in August of 2011 for a fishing trip, and agree with all the previous reviews. The owner Dave and his son helped pack us in to a backcountry lake (and picked us up from the airport in International Falls). Very knowledgeable, friendly, and fair-priced. Dave's wife and mother in law help run the lodge and keep it stoked with excellent homemade family-style meals. We also visited with the rangers at Voyager's National Park, and they told me that Arrowhead is highly recommended.

We stayed here late in July. The family owned Lodge, cabins and small campground are wonderful. They have a great location and do everything they can to make your stay comfortable. They are very friendly and go above any expectations to make your stay comfortable. We rented a pontoon boat for the day and could not find one of the local attractions. One of the owners Larry volunteered to take us to the destination. He had a ton of knowledge regarding the history of the area. This is a place to enjoy Voyagers National Park and relax. I would recommend exploring by boat. We have two small children 11 and 5. They enjoyed the natural settings and wildlife. We stayed here in our travel trailer in one of their 3 RV full hook up spots. We will stay here again when visiting the area. They also served meals in the dinning room, had a bar, pool table, TV room, great views out the windows, boat docks and outside sitting and viewing areas. There is a great beach behind the resort at Wooden Frog. This is a great place.

One of the best places I have stayed for a fishing trip. Oldtime lodge, great food and service. The staff made us feel like part of the family.

I have stayed at Arrowhead Lodge for several summers, and it has now become our annual summer destination.

Arrowhead Lodge can be distinguished from many of the other properties on Lake Kabetogama. Here are just a few things:
The Lodge: The resort is home to a historic log lodge. In it, the owners serve wonderful home-cooked meals (reservations required for dinner, lunches available on request). They have a great bar, friendly owners, and many comfortable areas to read, enjoy the view or take in a movie.

The Location: Arrowhead Lodge's property is adjacent to the Wooden Frog Campground and the Voyager's National Park. The park service offers programs at the campground, and the boat launch is right next to the resort's dock. I've seen nearly all of the cabins, and would be happy to stay in any of them. What I particularly like is that the property is large enough so you have the choice of some secluded, quiet cabins, or some right near the playground ideal for kids or groups who want to be near one another. They also have a great yard space which is fun for playing soccer or other games, building a campfire, or playing on the playground. The property is really well kept and clearly maintained with lots of love and care. They also have some RV sites.

Their dock is huge, they have boats, pontoon boats, paddle boats, kayaks, etc. for rental. You also can book a guided trip with one of the owners to various locations throughout the lake.

The Cabins: All of the cabins are unique, spotlessly clean, well equipped with everything you need. No A/C (never needed), but there is heat (which we have needed, even in July/August). I'd stay in any of the cabins any day. My personal favorite? They have a little cabin right by the lake perfect for 2. It sits on a rock and at night you can hear the water lapping up on the shore. Heavenly.

Finally, I can't say enough about the owners and management. This resort is family run, with three generations working there. Friendly, and committed to making sure you have a good time.

I'd highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to see this beautiful part of the country.
