Picnic area, wonderful playground for kids with a great rope climbing apparatlus. Great hiking/biking paths. It also has a boat launch for Medicine Lake.

“Excellent Meeting/Party Room in Main Building - Lots of Hiking Trails”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Spent a full day here for a work retreat, using the outstanding meeting room on the upper level of the main building. Room has comfortable furnishings, a fireplace, and kitchenette. Terrific views of forested surroundings. The park building is otherwise small, but comfortable for a break from activities.

Over 14 miles of hiking and skiing trails; I sampled several miles on a cool, overcast October afternoon - the Fall colors, falling leaves, and brisk air were enjoyable walking through the woods and along a lake.

Spectucular climbing/play area for kids next to the main building - lots of young kids and parents enjoying this.

Although closed for the season, I did walk by the beach area, which looks nice, with good facilities. Boat and canoe rentals are available. The fact that a shuttle from a secondary parking lot is needed suggests that this is a very busy place during the summer.

Keep in mind that this park is surrounded by a fully developed suburb, so the only sense of solitude is going to be on the hiking/skiing trails.

“Great place for a short walk or picnic”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

I've been to the park 4 times so far with friends and family.
At all occasions, the grass was cut and the play area clean.

“Could be better maintained”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

My family have been going to French Park for over twenty years. The play area is showing it's age but as for nature, it nice to walk in the park. Beware hide your valuable as there seems to be a lot of auto break ins.

“Beautiful, Calming, Nicely Equipped”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

French Park and Medicine Lake(the lake that the park borders on) are treasures. I have lived in the area for 25 years. French Park is great for picnicking, biking, swimming, exercise walking, children to play, and scenery. It rarely gets too crowded. No bike rentals are available but a bike ride around the lake(8 miles) is among the more beautiful "water feature" rides in the country...all via path. The other nice park on Medicine Lake is located on the west shore...much smaller but also great for biking, walking, scenery...swimming at the smaller park is so-so due to a muddy bottom. Fishing in Medicine Lake is considered good...sunfish, bass, northern.
