“Nice place to stay near the MinnieApple”
Reviewed March 30, 2012

This has become my hotel of choice when staying in Minneapolis. It sits on the intersection of Hwys 55 and 494. There are many bars/restaurants around it or just a short drive away includking Jakes, Axle's Bonfire, Joe Sensors to name a few and across the parking lot there is a Solo's pizza, Caribou Coffee, and Subway. The hotel is relatively new. If you are lucky you can get upgraded to a suite with a fireplace... nice. The standard suites have two rooms, two TVs, fold out sofa in the living room, full kitchen, full size fridge, microwave, etc. Hotel internet is fast enough. Free breakfast is above standard for most hotels, and evening socials Monday thru Thursday are available. Free beer and wine is provided on Wednesday night (but would be better if it was provided Mon thru Thurs).
Rooms are clean, and well kept. Kitchen dishes/pots&pans/utinsels have depleted over the months the hotel has been in operation, and it does not appear that the hotel has kept up well there, but all else if fine with the room.
All in all, it's a good hotel, and it's been my hotel of choice when traveling in the area.

Thank you kindly for your feedback about your recent stay in March! We are glad to hear that you were able to find many great restaurants in the area while you were here. They are all great establishments and offer a variety of menu options. Unfortunately, Joe Senser's has closed a few weeks back.
We have been making sure to get the kitchen items replaced. We have some guests that love our amentities so much that they want to bring them home to their own kitchen. We have made sure that all rooms are back to the inventory that they should be.
We look forward to having you back again soon!

Stayed at the lovely and new Residence Inn Plymouth for almost a month due to a corporate relocation. Had a 3 room (2 br) suite in order to accommodate our 3 children and large dog (for which the charge is $100 per stay, not per night). Each of the 3 rooms was generous enough that we didn't feel completely on top of each other. Here are items worthy of your attention:
•Facility is new, clean, well-appointed with full kitchen, granite counters, table for 4, work space, coach and chairs, coffee table.
•Plenty of closet space for the 5 of us
•There is a TV in each of the rooms, which for us was a bit excessive, but some might find useful.
•Maid service was great, although sometimes they wouldn't come clean if our dog was alone in the unit, although he's quite friendly.
•Indoor pool and hot tub were great, clean, and never crowded.
•Plenty of washers and dryers available (coin, but front desk makes change).
• Free breakfast with hot and cold offerings, although after a month the selection wears thin).
•The front desk was very welcoming of the dog, which passed by several times a day for walks. He quickly learned about the dog treats in the drawer, so we had to stop and wait every time we came through the front door. The cleaning crew not so thrilled, but we would take dog for walk if we were home when they arrived. There is a large field across the street where we took the dog (don't know if this was allowed).
•there was a disappointing few who did not clean up after their dogs around the property. Gave responsible dog owners a bad image! Maintenance would clean it up if they saw it, but I'm sorry - that is not their job - it is the dog owner's job!
•can walk to good pizza place (Solo's) and coffee store. Jimmy John's (+) and McD's (-) both within walking distance.
•Manager's Receptions held evenings during the week offer simple but appreciated meals. Burgers, sandwiches, taco bar, etc.

After a month, we were certainly ready to move into our new home. But this hotel made the transition to our new city as easy as possible. Would recommend to anyone whether short- or long-term, but definitely to those needing a place to stay with pet (provided that you pick up after it)

I am sure that you are excited to be situated in your own home now with plenty of room for the kids and your dog. We really enjoyed having you with us even though it is not always the same as being in your own home.
We do agree that many of our pet owners do not like to take care of their animals, and that we do it for them. We have an agreement in place at check in that if you are caught not cleaning up, we do assess a fee onto your account, and we use that for our staff that has to clean it up. We are lucky to be allowed to have animals at our location, and we don't like that many guests are not pet lovers, but yet they shouldn't have to be exposed to someone else's pet that they can't take care of. We do now have a pet friendly area on the West side of our building for people to take their pets and do stock the pet bags and disposal. The grassy field is the property of West Health, and not encouraged to have their pets over there. We have some great recommendations of local pet parks to let your animal run.
Many of our housekeeping assocaites are afraid of animals. Many of them in their lifetime have not been exposed to animals in their upbringing. We want to make sure our staff and your animal are safe by requiring them to be in a cage or with you when our staff cleans. It is already a detailed cleaning process and to be going in and out of the room to get supplies and have to watch the animal does add some concern on our behalf. We want to make sure that your animal is safe as well as our staff.

Thank you for your feedback, we look forward to having you visit us again soon.

This place is amazing!! I was shocked to find out it is nearly 3 years old. It looks brand new!
I was greeted with a huge smile from every staff member and the place is so CLEAN! My wife even made it a point to move furniture to find some dust and she couldn't. I will be back the next time I am in the Minneapolis area! Keep up the great work Residence Inn!

This is the first time I have been disappointed by a Residence Inn. We had booked a stay of one week, and left after one night and being shown 3 rooms. All were dark, and none were clean. The manager initially told us as the first room had a carpet that had obviously not been vacuumed that he would upgrade the room for us at no cost. We went out for food and when we came back we were offered a downgrade for the same price as the initial room. This downgrade room was unsuitable as it did not have a full kitchen although the manager told us it would. After another trip to the front desk we were given the same type of room we had booked but the new one was still unclean carpet very stained with ?popcorn on it and walls stained with ? Coffee spills. We called another Residence Inn in the area which was able to accommodate us, and saved the vacation. Would not recommend this particular Residence Inn.

Room Tip: One bedroom fireplace rooms do not have bath, only shower. Pool does not have hot tub/spa.

We visited Minneapolis recently to fly to another location. On our return we decided to stay for an extra couple of nights. We chose this location because we are from Winnipeg, MB and this was on the right side of Minneapolis for the drive home. We also wanted to go to both the MOA and Albertville, so this location was central for that because there is quite a distance between the two. This is a new hotel and it is quite large. We had a one bedroom suite and it was great for our family of four. It is always nice to have a room to put the kids to bed and then have space for the parents to have some alone time instead of everyone going to bed at nine! The pool area was average and the tiles around the pool were actually quite slippery (not the best for small kids who forget not to run). The breakfast area is large but considering the size of the hotel it was always very full. The breakfast selection is very good. The eggs were not the typical ones that taste very processed. All of our service requests were happily met. Our only complaint was that for some reason they neglected to housekeep our room one day. They apologized and sent someone up to change garbages and provide us with towels. We were on the road side of the hotel and there was some road noise to deal with. On the whole would stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Avoid the road side if possible. The windows are not sound proof enough to keep out the road noise...

We were visiting "The Cities" for a long weekend and decided to stay in a new location. We wanted to be near hiking trails and parks. This location suited us very well for that, although it is a long haul back into St. Paul/Minneapolis.

The room was wonderful, spacious, warm, and completely comfortable. I love the new blinds that completely darken the room at night and good light during the day. The hotel staff was very accommodating when we called to complain about noise.

Although the room interiors are superbly designed, the walls are not. The noise coming from the neighboring room was too often invasive. Music and voices came through the wall next to the desk and couch, loud and clear. Similarly, the barking dog across the hall was an annoyance.

The breakfast room was well-stocked and the breakfast room staff was always super accommodating. My complaint about the breakfast room is really about a problem that is emerging more and more often: children and teenage guests coming to the breakfast room straight from bed, in pjs or underwear, barefoot, rubbing the sleep out of their eyes, scratching heads and bodies as they reach for the eggs and toast before proceeding to a table where they put bare feet up on the chairs for everyone to look at. There's something pretty unappetizing about all this. Yes, it is the parents' responsibility to prevent this, but since they aren't doing so, can management request some reasonable rules like: clothing and shoes? You may even need to have some signs about washing hands...or having hand sanitizers at the entrance to the breakfast room, like cruise ships do.

Thank you for your recent response. We appreciate the opportunity to host you during your recent stay to Minneapolis and glad to hear that your stay was enjoyable. There are many guests that really do enjoy French Regional Park near us for hiking, skiing, boating etc.
We do our best to "police" our guests to make sure that they are wearing shoes and appropriate clothing to our breakfast area. Unfortunately there are some people that we don't get to as we are also trying to maintain our cleanliness and our food preparation. We hope as a guest anywhere that people would understand the difference of right and wrong and know how to enter a restaurant. I apologize that these guests gave you a bad impression of the breakfast standards, but rest assured, we do our best to make sure this doesn't happen.
We look forward to having you back again soon!
Happy New Year, Michelle Rein, General Manager.
