We visited Jr's No. 19 four times last week during a Bluegrass Festival (review to come on that) in Pine River, Minn. Yes, the food was THAT good. The menu changes a bit each day, which keeps it interesting and fresh. I started with tender, smoky pulled pork and topped it with the crisp, sweet/sour coleslaw that seriously was the best I've ever tasted. The contrasting texture and flavor danced in my mouth! I tasted my husband's Reuben sandwich - the smoked corned beef was exceptional, and the sandwich was piled high. We also tasted the ribs - they were tender and flavorful. Beef brisket was also among our favorites.

The sides are fresh and delicious, too. We enjoyed the Northwoods Casserole, made with tender wild rice, shredded chicken and an assortment of other Minnesota flavors and textures. The Mac and Cheese was delicious, too. The coleslaw was hands-down the best, though.

It is almost impossible to have room for dessert - but we couldn't resist. The homemade cheesecake was buttery and delicately sweet, with a melt-in-your mouth texture. The bread pudding HAS to be tasted - my husband loves it, and he has never liked bread pudding! We topped both with their Bourbon Caramel Sauce. It was hard to resist licking the plate...

The atmosphere is casual and fun. The price is good for what you get - you WILL be full, and you WILL go back!

We've been to Jr's twice before and it was terrific. This time we had to get a refund on our order because we couldn't eat it. We ordered the brisket sandwiches but they weren't hot and had very little flavor. Something really tasted "off", that's when we realized the buns were moldy. We're not sure what happened to the quality and we hope they didn't spread themselves too thin by opening a second restaurant in Nisswa!

If you're up our way you gotta make it a point to get in here! Jr. really does it right. Starts a fresh smoke every day and boy is it good! Always consistent. He's got mixed BBQ on Monday and Tuesday, a wonderful Rueben on Wednesday, Prime Rib Sammy on Thursday and a Pastrami sandwich on Friday! None should be missed and those are just the specials!! Thursday thru Saturday they also have ribs and other delectable items!! Oh, oh did I mention the cheese cake!? Best cheese cake I have ever eaten (and I've had a few!)! The atmosphere is a nice cafeteria style and the staff are always happy to see you! The portions are huge and the price is always right! A pulled pork sammy with chips and a pickle is only $4.95!!! You cannot go wrong with this place! Stop in! You will not be disappointed!!

Don't miss an opportunity if you are in the Pine River are to eat at Jr's No. 19. From the minute you walk in the door, you are treated special! Everything is top of the line and the price is very reasonable. Ribs, brisket, chicken, pulled pork and wondeful sides including Northwoods Casserole, macaroni and cheese, it just goes on and on. But, if you go for the Sunday brunch, not only do you get an excellent salad bar with fruits and greens,, but everything on the weekly menu plus Redneck Eggs Benedict and the usual breakfast fare, along with ribs, deserts, on and on. Ryan and Deb are delightful hosts and are always willing to give a sample of anything on the menu. Fun place and some weekends even have musical entertainment.
