“You'd better be hungry!”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

While vacationing in the Brainerd area, we drove to Pine River looking for some new places to visit. It was lunch time and two highway patrol cars were parked outside Jr's No. 19. Hey, if cops are at a restaurant, it must be good, right? This place is fantastic. The menu is written on a chalk board. The staff offered samples and after tasting the Northwoods Cassserole we bought a side order. We shared a pulled pork sandwich and had the original flavor bbq sauce, which was fantastic. The side orders are only $1 and they were enough to serve two. Next time we go we want to try the baked beans and mac & cheese with bacon. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the items on the menu. Great food, at great prices and service with a smile.

“Stop reading this and go eat some BBQ already!”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

The band had a couple trips up to Northern Minnesota recently and happened upon Jr's. After the first trip, we had to make the time for a return visit.

The joint is big, roomy and clean and the owner/staff are super friendly - happy to provide samples. The brisket is moist and flavorful. The ribs are big and meaty with just the right amount of tug. Chicken - yum. The pulled pork prepared just right - not too dry; not too wet. Excellent sauce (I bought two bottles to bring home).

As for sides: the Northwoods Casserole is awesome. Wild rice, mushroom, Parmesan - not a spec of cream of mushroom soup to be found! The Mac & Cheese totally hit the spot. Top it off with the bread pudding - like a caramel roll in a bowl.

You can get individual orders, but if you have a large group (or you're just a big boy), order one of the meat platters and share. Gives you a chance to try out everything.

Finally - big servings at great prices. You can't go wrong. And don't wait for the last day of your up North vacation to visit Jr's. You'll be sad that you didn't plan time for a return visit.
