I have known about this small place for about 3 years, but had not sampled the offerings until recently. This special place lived up to the praise I heard and I was impressed. They do have a daily specials for dinner which had a selection of seafood and beef for entrees. The menu has a wide selection and the prices range from $12 to $25. They also serve a hearty selection of common and micro brews. The wine selection (bottles)are displayed on a lazy susan at the counter. If you want wine I recommend looking at them first because you may not have heard of many on the wine list and the server did not know much about them. I ordered the grass-fed ribeye and it was fabulous served over mashed potatoes with carmelized onions on top. It was sweet, juicy, tender and pretty large portion steak. My entree came with artichoke and basil soup which was awesomely delicious. The 3 others in my group ordered, salmon, walleye and scallops. All were praised as delicious. The glass of red wine I ordered was listed as a blend of chocolate and plums. It had a wonderful bouquet and went very well with my meal. The place had just been re-painted inside (as the sign on the door stated) so the walls were bare or any decor. It was very clean, nice tables and the servers were efficient and friendly. The only down side was that no bread was offered or served with the meals. Not enough of a reason to skip this place though. Not a cheap meal but a charming place to dine with friends. They stop seating at 8pm so don't plan this to be a late one.

Very very small portions. Scallops on a bed of soup!? Sounded interesting, but only 3 scallops, which were kind of tough and small. With 2 slices of very well-done bacon. No rolls, bread, etc. A very small salad, which was nothing special. Meal was $20!! The wines started at $8/glass!! Beer came in a can!! Hello, if you are going to charge these prices, do not have beer in cans. For a storefront cafe with no atmosphere, this was highly disappointing, except for the soup the scallops wallowed in. It was excellent-roasted pumpkin bisque. Other meal was short ribs, which again was a small portion, but it was more food than the scallops. We do not eat large portions and often order 1 meal to split, but could never have done the meal-splitting with those 2 selections. Find another place to eat.

We had lunch here after biking. The food was well prepared, hot and just the right amount for lunch. The menu gives one a lot of choice. We tried the pork Philly and chicken salad with apple. Both were excellent. The place was busy with only one waitress, but she did an great job of taking care of everyone. If you're in a big hurry, go to a fast food joint. If you want to enjoy great food at a leisurely pace, try the Rainbow cafe.

What a lovely little place just outside of Rochester. Their menu is wonderful, always changing coupled with great wine pairings and a small, adorable environment which is great for date night, night out with friends/family, or an excellent meal for a great value when the Rochester restaurants and wait times just won't do. I would highly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed.

This is a little bit of nostalgia in the atmosphere but there's nothing older about the food, except the recipes! Good ole hearty stick to the ribs fare here.
