If you are driving on I-35 -- which goes right by this lovely little town -- and have any interest in American architecture, it is IMPERATIVE that you stop here to visit this building.
This is one of Sullivan's small scale masterpieces and you'll find photos of it in nearly every book on American architecture. It has been lovingly preserved and is now occupied by a working Wells Fargo bank branch. Because of the architectural interest, the bank people allowed me to photograph all but the vault.
The interior is gorgeous, especially the ceiling, the mural and the windows.
The town is quite close to the interstate and you can get off, do this building and get back on in an hour or so, so don't miss it.
