Huge, comfortable, clean rooms. Super fun water park. Great rates. We will definitely stay here again. Far enough from Fargo that it feels like a vacation, but still a quick and easy drive.

Thumper Pond is only 90 minutes from the Fargo-Moorhead area. Hwy 10 to Perham, take the Hwy 78 exit south 12 miles to Ottertail and turn right by the Ottertail Area Medical Clinic (Tri-County Hospital) in to the resort. Thumper Pond Resort, this is where you belong!

A Jeckle and Hyde stay. Outside facility and golf course are beautiful. Lobby is horrible; tiny, uncomfortable couches. Rooms are comfortable and very large, but nothing fancy. Restaurant and lounge nice looking, but simple.

One day they will have a lot of guests, none the next (depends on conference or weddings) so you never know when waterpark will be open, lounge hours sporadic, food in restaurant good one day, horrid the next. Spa only open Thursday-Saturday and even then, not open when I stopped by. Missing a lot of amenities you'd expect from a place like this -- No in-room movies, no room service, nothing to eat at all after 9 p.m. Where are the cookies or continental breakfast, larger towels in the fireplace/jacuzzi suites, WiFi?

Housekeeping pounded on door at 8 a.m. one morning (after I commuted back from Twin Cities and arrived at 1:30 a.m.) and started yelling that we were not checked into our room (our 4th night there) and shouted that we had to go down to the lobby immediately and straighten it out or get out so she could clean it.

Weird problems all week with our stay. Housekeeping missed cleaning our room 2 days. Key card never seemed to work; had to ask for new key every day (never asked for ID or checked that we were actually registered (security, people!). Ended up with 3 separate bills because they kept accidently checking us out,.

WARNING: Do not stay in rooms with low number (100, 101, 200, 201, 300, 301 and probably 02 and 03 as well) when there is a wedding. No sleep until after wedding dance (1 a.m.!) the Saturday of our stay. The bass speakers shook us out of bed.

Front desk friendly but not efficient; housekeeping rude, waterpark manager Bill was wonderful, breakfast waitresses very good. Evening in the lounge was enterrtaining -- Bartenders needed customers to tell them how to make drinks (when asked for a creme de menthe on the rocks; "Do you use white or green liquor?" and for a Manhattan, "What are bitters? I don't think we have that.")

It's one of few places in area open in the winter, so I hope they stay open, but their inconsistency left us wondering "what next?"

Thumper Pond Resort is open year-round, however some amenities’ hours change dependent on the season and level of on-property activity. We do have room service available when the kitchen is open as well as pizzas and vending generally available around the clock. The entire property has wireless internet, as well as hard-wire connections in each guest room.

It’s disappointing to hear about
inconsistencies occurring for our guests as we endeavor to make each guest’s experience exceptional. But reviews help us identify matters that need addressing. We appreciate the effort put forth to upload reviews and encourage other guests to do so as well.
