“Secret Menu = Hidden Gem!”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

I have gone to school in Northfield for 4 years now and, after trying all of the restaurants, I can honestly say the Mandarin Garden is the best restaurant in town. While the Sesame Chicken, Cream Cheese Wantons, and Pot-Stickers on their regular menu are all amazing, they have a secret (more authentic) menu. If you ask for the secret menu, the owner of the restaurant will describe each dish to you and make personal recommendations. The food on the secret is honestly spectacular. If you are eating in Northfield, this restaurant is your best bet. The food is great, the staff is friendly, and you support a local Mom and Pop restaurant.

“It's not just family it's style.”

Where do I begin? Mandarin Garden Restaurant's service, food and overall atmosphere was so enjoyable and adorable I was sold when entering the establishment. From the comfortable asian feel of the restaurant's decorations to the local waitstaff the whole place was head to toe small town meets big world food and fun. The food wasn't too expensive and very good, especially if you are a vegetarian! We ordered Tofu Family Style with rice and cream cheese wontons, the spice was present, but not overwhelming for the tofu (we got medium) and it's a new meal that kid's can eat. Most of the time tofu is a turn off with young ones, but this new cuisine was killed by my family and kids. Over-all a great atmosphere, great food, great experience. For something fun and different I highly recommend this establishment if you are around the greater Dundas area.

“Avoid at all cost...”

Where do I begin? Not at Mandarin Garden Restaurant...you may end here! Good, kind service. Pleasing atmosphere. Fortune cookies...bizarre fortunes, edible. Food...oh for the love of pete...please only order water...maybe, I didn't drink the water (take-out). Chicken tasted funky in Chicken Fried Rice. Kung Pao Chicken swimming in grease/sauce. Beef in Beef w/ snow pea pods was not the right color with a funky flavor. Cream cheese wontons were ok, edible. Egg rolls, not so much. Soy sauce weird. But the lady who took my order and my credit card was very nice!
