Our recent visit to Grand view Lodge, we stayed in a cabin on Grand View property. We encountered several families driving to Grand view to have their children use the water slide and pool area. We talked to them and they confirmed they were NOT staying at any of Grand View properties, just coming to use the pool and beach area. This is disappointing!! We paid for these amenities, yet the pool was so crowded we could not use it. Also we struggled to find two beach chairs on the beach at 11;30AM. Grand view needs to monitor the pool, so only paying guests can use it.
Our cabin was not vacuumed the entire 5 days of our stay. They did replace the towels but no cleaning of the carpet or bathroom floor.. For the 5 star rate they charge, they are not delivering 5 star service...

Grand View Lodge has always been in the business of creating memories and providing outstanding service to both our guests, but also our members. Our Grand View Lodge resort membership includes benefits at a medley of dining venues, the relaxing Glacial Waters Spa, our 3 championship golf courses, indoor pool and fitness center, and also access to the 2500 feet of beautiful shoreline.

Needless to say, our members find this unlimited access to our resort and discounts to be of incredible value to them. Many of our members have been life-long guests of our facilities and/or are supporting community members, and with this are welcome at any time. Their respect for our property and patronage is incredible and we are blessed to surround ourselves with their company.

We also value each and every guest of Grand View, and in doing so we strive to provide proper accommodations and amenities, such as beach chairs. Just today we added another 30 chairs to accommodate our unprecedented year of guests. We will continue to add more chairs and umbrellas, throughout the year, to help ensure each and every one of our guests has the opportunity to use and at the time they desire.

We hope next year, if you return, you not only find a beach chair and at the time of day you find suited best, but also be able to enjoy your time on the beach with your friends, family and other beach neighbors, who could very well being a member of Grand View.

Stayed here in July of 2012, and had a excellent experience. Great family resort that doesn't feel crowded, except for maybe the restaurants. Our cabin was on the main property, right on the lake. It wasn't the most modern of cabins, but it certainly wasn't rustic either. Plus, we didn't spend much time in it anyway. It was very clean - the beds were just ok. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My three and five year old loved it

The main lodge in on the National Historic Registery and is operated by a third generation of family. They have all types of accommodations from one bedroom cabins on lake to multi bedroom condos. You can choose meal plans or have rentals with kitchens to prepare your own. The properties are scattered over a 3-4 mile distance from the main lodge but pretty easy to get to any of them. Several golf courses, tennis courts, shuffleboard, etc. The have two bingo nights a week and the pot is determined by the number of of cards bought ($2 each). There is most every type of water sport available as well as an enclosed pool with a two story water slide. There are about 4 restaurants around the property, each with a different vibe, from semi formal to very casual. The young workers are from 30 different countries and many come back every summer to work. For larger families, I'd look at renting one of the owner owned and Grand View managed properties at Interlachen at Gull Haven. They're hard to get though because the people currently renting have the option of reserving for the next year and so many do.

Room Tip: See above. Too many choices and we haven't seen them all. Unit #7561 at Interlachen is a good...

Having never enjoyed a Northern Minnesota Lake vacation, I went into the vacation with low expectatoins. The resort really took me for a surprise.

Accommodations. I expected rustic no frills. They were spacious, well-appointed, comfortable and gave you a feeling like you were indeed living in a forest/lake setting. Very private as well, we felt like we had the place all to our self.

Food. We ate at the main dining room one evening. Great Walleye dish - highly recommend. Waitress recommended a bottle of wine which was awful. Sadly, she poured three glasses of it before anyone tasted it. Situation was rectified when we chose another bottle which we tasted, approved and then was poured. In the end, we were pleased with the dinner and wine and thankfully didn't get charged for the bad wine.

There is a little ice cream/sweet shop on the premise we went to each night - the Chocolate Ox I believe is what it is called. Great way to end the evening. I wish they would stay open a touch later (they close at 10 p.m.). Loved it.

They have smores on the beach each evening - we did that twice and it was wonderful. Fun being on the beach, sun sets really late, great vibe, games are on the grass for the kids to play, really fun treat and nice way to end the day.

Food at the beach place was solid, great place for cocktails and lunch. The water slide in the indoor pool was the highlight for our toddler. I think a total of 5 solid hours was booked on that water slide.

We rented pontoon boat and jet skis on the beach and had a blast. People are so nice it is crazy.

Perhaps the one thing that caught me most by surprise was the final tab for the four days we spent there. It was truly an exceptional value. Reflecting on the trip, it was a great, great value and enjoyable spot for a family vacation. Great things to do on the lake, golf courses, pool, fun excursus. Great lake getaway. We will go again definitely! I wish we would have scheduled a week to stay there.

My husband and I stayed at the resort over the week of the July 4th. If anyone says that customer service is a dying art, they need to stay at Grand View. Every encounter that we had with an employee of Grand View was first class. We took full advantage of the spa, beach, golfing, dining and relaxing at the Pub during our stay. Thank you Grand View for an excellent Getaway!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the King Studio at the Golf Villias. The room was very spacious and beautiful. We coul...
