We went to Spasso for the first time last night. We were pleasantly surprised. We started with happy hour appetizers and happy hour wine. All were fairly priced and tasty. We had the spicy green beans and crab cakes, portions were large enough to share.
Two of our three entrees were delicious. The Chiopino has 5 kinds of fish in a thick, richly flavored tomato broth which we happily sopped up with the crunchy bread accompaniment. Each piece of fish was prepared to just the right texture. Nothing rubbery or chewy. The second entree was the Chop chop salad. Highly recommended! The diversity of flavors caught me by surprise. Each bite had a different morsel I had not anticipated. Green olives, balsamic vinegar, pine nuts, etc. The only disappointment was the turkey burger. It was bland and flavorless. It could easily have been confused with one of the frozen veggie burgers from the local grocery store. Pass on the turkey burger, there are lots of other great choices on the menu. We will return and may take advantage of their shuttle service.
