Went across for a day trip into PEI. The Bridge is definitely an engineering marvel. It's incredibly long, it took a bit over eight minutes to cross at the 80 km/h speed limit on the bridge. There is a toll, but only when you're leaving PEI it's free to cross over from New Brunswick into PEI. Going across the bridge once is something every Canadian should experience at least once I think.

Drove across yesterday and wow it's a long bridge. the history of the building of the bridge really puts into perspective of how constructively sound it is.

We took the bridge both ways during our trip to PEI. While its pretty pricey ($48), you only pay going off-island and still less expensive than the ferry. Its very convenient, taking about 15-20 minutes.

We had one issue paying our toll. We decided the lines were shorter on the automated lanes, so tried to use our credit card in them. It kept asking for a PIN number and I don't have one. I do for my Debit card , but not for my credit card. We tried the help button. They said to retry it. We did. Rejected. So we had to back up the line of traffic behind us and go over and cut into the manned lanes. Embarrassing! Then the card still didn't work. We used another just fine.

Our bank said our card got locked for too many retries and we'd have to wait 24 hours for it to unlock. So my tip is to use the manned lanes even if the automated ones are shorter.

Being a resident of Quebec and witnessing the horrible construction that we endure on a daily basis it’s quite impressive to see a bridge like the one PEI and New Brunswick have constructed. I think Montreal could take a lesson or two from their engineers and their builders. You don’t have much of a view while in the car as the barriers are quite high but the short distance you have to travel just to get to PEI was well worth it.

Have crossed this Bridge many times...Always take a big breath as we approach, from either side..
Definitely worth the $47.00..You only pay when you leave PEI
