I was here to watch twins/yankees baseball series. The hotel was perfectly located for us. No need to rent a car. Took the light rail right from airport to hotel (short 2 block walk from rail). Nice easy walk to ball park. Tons of restaurants and attractions within walking distance of hotel. The restaurant/bar in hotel lobby is fabulous. Bartenders are quite friendly and make super drinks. The fitness center on the 17th floor is adequate (although a larger supply of fresh towels is needed).

The hotel itself is okay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, albeit the only room available when we checked in was a handicapp accessible double room (we requested a king). And the rate, I think, was a bit high. It's an okay place to stay, if you can get decent rate. At rack rates, it isn't a good value.

I'll start by saying that we got a really great rate at this hotel--so I really can't complain too much. Had we paid rack rate, I would not have been happy with this place. Some of the irritations were:
* No pool. We knew this going in, as no pool was advertised on their website. Since the other hotels in the same area do have pools, this is a miss at this hotel.
* Scary location. Literally every night we stayed at this hotel, we could see drug deals happening on the street below us. We saw multiple drunk young men urinating in the public parking garage. We also saw three people get arrested just looking out the window of our room. We encountered many, many drunk people asking for money, were accosted by groups of college-aged men in the evening, and did not feel safe walking around at any time of day. This isn't the hotel's fault, of course; it's just something to note if you're thinking of staying here.
* Parking is atrocious. This is expected in a larger city anyway, but this particular hotel says they have a private, secure parking garage for guests. This is great, except they'll charge you an arm and a leg to park there overnight, and the secure garage will be full all weekend anyway because there are not enough spots for all guests. This was really disappointing, as it was part of the reason we booked at this hotel. We ended up parking for a slightly lower price (not by much!) in a public parking garage down the street for most of our trip.

That said, the staff was friendly and helpful, and there seemed to be a fair amount of security/police protection around the hotel. The room was comfortable, though a bit outdated, and it was quiet in our room. You'll want to close the curtains in your room, though... we could see straight in to a room at the hotel across the street, and I imagine they could see us, too!

Great location in downtown Minneapolis; near to the light rail, bus tour of the twin cities leaves from just across the street. Short walk to Target Field. I was relying on public transport and walking to get around and found the hotel to be ideally placed to get around the city. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Free wi-fi in the rooms, newspaper at your door every day, big tv in the room. Staff were helpful; were able to suggest a comedy club and give directions on how to get there. Would recommend it and would stay there again myself.

I stayed here for four nights at a conference and the experience was uniformly positive: the room was spacious and very clean, as was the bathroom; the room-service food was surprisingly excellent; the downtown location is ideal; and the wifi was included with the room -- a nice bonus available at surprisingly few hotels. I'd definitely stay again.

Great hotel good service - loved the skywalks the most. The reception area is quite spacy and loved the steak in the bar next to the reception area. We just missed winter in October 2009. As we were in Little Rock after three days in the hotel we got an email from there saying it was snowing in Minnesota.

Room Tip: Rooms are large and great to relax in

This is a first class hotel with a staff to match ; there wasa screw up when someone cancelled one night and the whole reservation was canceled. It was traigtened out promptly. A very professional young lady from sales sought me ought to apologize . The Fire Lake Restauraunt is top notch had three meals there and all were served promptly , tasty, great selection with regional specialtys including Bison and Walleye. Room was a very good King . and the price was reasonable just a block off their downtown mall .

First the check in was the fastest I have ever had and the staff were very fun and friendly! You really can not beat the location. It is within a block or two of some of the best restaurants and shopping. We were only 2 block to the light rail which took us to the dome for a Vikings game. We ordered room service from the Fire Lake restaurant and it was awesome!Loved it!!
