I have stayed here before and like many aspects of this hotel. Location is good for many downtown purposes. Good restaurants are close by. Rooms are fine although nothing special. The one suggestion I would make regards the street level entry. The lobby is fine but on the 5th floor. The street level entry is so severe and utilitarian that it makes a depressing first impression. On a cold Minnesota day, it would be great to walk into an area with trees, plants, natural wood, maybe a fireplace or almost anything that would seem more welcoming than what it is now.

I recently stayed here to experience what my fellow colleagues like about this place. The hotel is within the Skyway system, so going to work in the morning woe be super convenient.

My first reaction within the lobby was how clean and fresh the general area was designed. There's a gifts shop, concierge, check-in, and the restaurant all equally spaced. The decor was like a Courtyard green and slate theme, without going overboard with all the tv's and monitor.

The rooms were a little small, bigger than the Hotel Minneapolis, but smaller than the Hilton and SPG options. My 2 biggest issues were the elevators and dining options. Due to the remodel, the 5 elevators are so slow. I actually stood for almost 10 mins on the 16th floor. The dining in option was not that great since the restuarant was not great either. It's basically your American type cuisine. At least the beers at the bar were following.

I generally like this place because the value is there, the location is great (I think the walk to see the TWolves play was less than my elevator experience), and the staff are really hospitable.

I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to see the TWolves or Twins play, have business meetings downtown, and any Elite members. The lounge is fully stocked.

Great location with connecting walkways to shopping, parking, restaurants and businesses.
security is sufficiant. Ask for a corner room with a view on the top floors. Becareful you dont get locked out of access from parking garage or connecting walkways if returning late. Security will assist you but it is a process to get in to hotel at times

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room with a view..

I stayed 1 night at the Marriott City Center in November 2012 for a quick business trip. Getting to the hotel from the airport was easy and they had both valet and self park right outside the hotel. The hotel lobby was on the 5th floor of the hotel which was a little different, but not really a big deal.

My room was a corner room and oddly shaped. My TV was about 30 feet away from my bed, making it very difficult to watch. If you were working at the desk in the room then the TV was in a great location, otherwise it didn't make a whole lot fo sense.

I stopped in the bar for a drink and a bite to eat. Prices were high, as to be expected in a downtown hotel. But quality and service were great, also to be expected from a Marriott.

Not much else to report, it was a good hotel. The breakfast buffet was fine and the bathroom was clean. Actually the shower was really great, that would be the highlight of the hotel.

Room Tip: Try to avoid corner rooms as the layout is not advantageous

At check in at 10:30 Thursday evening, November 29, the person checking me in did an excellent job. Right away she noticed that my first night was my 50th night in 2012 qualifying me for Marriott Rewards Gold status. Being new to Gold status, she proceeded to tell me that the status opened many things for me, the first of which being the concierge lounge and its free breakfast the next morning. And since this was my first stay at the hotel in more than 8 years she then proceeded to personally show me around the entire lobby area, walking by and pointing out the Minneapolis Skyway elevators, the elevators to the guest rooms and where in the lobby bar I could get the best internet reception that evening. She really didn't need to do any of this. It started out my stay on a very high level and the balance of the three night stay did not disappoint. I only wish I had taken down her name so I could pass it on to her supervisors telling them of her excellent service and the job she did last Thursday night.

If you like the NY Marriott Marque, maybe you will like this hotel. It is the other hotel I abhor for the horrible elevator service. Rooms are very typical. I generally like Marriott rooms. Beds are comfortable , Bathrooms are nice, but I don't like taking a shower in the tub - oh well - typical Marriott. Concierge Lounge is pretty nice and exercise facilities are good.

I stayed in a two-level room in a corner, which was very unique. It was on the top floor 31/32, so the view was excellent. The concierge lounge was easily above average, though closed on weekends. A strength is the staff, who are generally very polished and friendly (especially the doorman). There are plenty of restaurants nearby, although a large percentage are closed on the weekends.

The hotel is on the skyway, which is very convenient in the winter months (if you don't get lost, as I did..numerous times). On the street level is usually a large crowd of people, apparently waiting for the bus to the poorer part of town. The racial mix was odd in that there was little 'mix' in the mix. The person walking with me was scared, though I wasn't and I had no problems, other than zigzagging through a crowd. Anyway, you can just take the skyway if you like.

At present, they appear to be working on the elevators, which caused waits of between 1-10 minutes. They have a sign saying that you should budget in several extra minutes to get downstairs. Warning or not, it's a bit of a (temporary) nuisance. Also, whenever the heating came on, there was a noticeable pop/hiss that startled me a few times. So there were a few blemishes, but overall it was still a very pleasant stay.
