“Nice place for meetings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2012

Very nice hotel with exceptionally quiet rooms. This would have been a better rating if it were not for the elevators. The first elevator from the ground floor to the lobby was small but ok. Then you had to switch to another elevator to get to your rooms. The lounge was good with excellent service. It had a patio which was nice. One problem was the meeting rooms were very cold especially to this southern boy. The staff seemed to think that it was ok and did not change the temps. Thje concierge level was excellent with a fully automated expresso machine. The food was fresh and the hosts were helpfull. The location was fun with lots of restaurants within walking distance.

Right in the heart of downtown, spacious rooms, all the comfort you'd expect from a Marriott, very corteous staff. The only - very minor - annoyance, if you wanna call it so, it's that you have to take two elevators, one to get to the fifth floor reception, and another one to go to your room. But, despite the busy weekend, there was never a long wait. Can't rate the price as it was rather high but because of the gay pride parade that attracted a lot of people in town.
They are upgrading to HD tv, a bit late anyway, but better than never. Still, would like to see a larger screen, the ones they have are smaller than the new ones in the newer hotels (especially the Spring Hill Suites). Overall very satisfied though.

This Marriott was outstanding - service, facility, food - in every way. Suite had large flat screen that could be connected to a laptop, video game player, camcorder, just about anything you would want to connect. Clean & luxurious. great view, great stay. Would definitely stay here my next trip to Minn.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade to the 28, 29, 30th floor rooms.

We stayed in this hotel on an anniversary trip to Minneapolis. We were upgraded to the concierge level upon arrival, and the lounge has delicious (and healthy!) breakfasts, dinners, and desserts (okay, maybe not so healthy) available for its guests. The staff serves as a very welcoming host to their guests, is incredibly accommodating, and makes your stay pleasant.

The hotel is within walking distance of the Walker Art Center and adjacent Loring Park, is within a few blocks of the Mississippi River (and a great walking/biking trail), down the street from First Ave/7th Street Entry, and is right on Nicollet Mall. Really, anything you could choose to do on your visit is right there, or easily accessible via one of the many bike rental stations near the hotel.

I will absolutely stay here again, and have recommended this property for an upcoming conference that I will be attending!

My husband and I stayed here recently so he could attend a conference. We're not usually Marriott customers, and we were impressed with this properties, though it has pros and cons.

Pros:
Great service: fast check-in, helpful concierge desk, every employee we encountered made a point of greeting us. Although I don't think there's free internet in the rooms, there is a free computer station where you can check in for your flight/print boarding passes.
Great location: an ideal place for attending a Twins game or other event downtown, very close to Macy's, Target, Barnes & Noble, and other stores/restaurants. About 2-3 blocks to nearest light rail station. We loved how easy it was to access the sky way system and wander around Minneapolis.
Rooms: Bed was comfortable, room was cleaned quickly in the a.m., tastefully appointed. We were upgraded to an executive suite in the corner of the triangular hotel, and had a superb view of Target Field and downtown area on two sides of the room.

Cons:
Elevators--you'd think 5 elevators would be enough for the guest floors, but it isn't always! We did occasionally have some long waits for an elevator up or down. We were prepared for this by reading other reviews and tried to work around it, but you can't always avoid it, especially if you are trying to ride the elevators at a time when conference sessions are ending/beginning.
Elevators, part 2--be warned if you have a car, you'll need to take one elevator in the parking garage (adjacent), then another elevator to the main floor/lobby, then another elevator to the guest room. This becomes tiring, and we only did it three times, max. Would not want to do it regularly. This doesn't seem like the best choice of a hotel for people w/ mobility issues.

I've still given this property 5 stars, b/c the pros outweigh the cons & the cons are something they don't have a lot of control over. I would stay here again if/when our travels bring us back to *downtown* Minneapolis.

Room Tip: If you can get a room high enough & in one of the corners of the triangular hotel, you will have...

I stayed at this hotel for a 5 day convention from June 27 to July 1. Like the rest of the hotel, the room was in GREAT condition. If there is one thing I would do differently I might buy one of the specials they offer. For $20 a day you get internet, free breakfast, and all day access to the concierge lounge. The hotel staff was an A+ for front desk, security, house keeping, concierge and bell staff. The hotel is on the Sky Walk so I literally walked from my hotel over the bridge into Macy's, and then through IDS Bank and then into the main Target retail store. The neighborhood is full of clubs, restaurants, music venues and theaters. As a baseball fan, it was paradise to walk 3 blocks from the hotel and through the gates of Target Field to watch the Twins play. Interestingly, you can use the Sky Walk to do the same thing. The Target Center can also be accessed by the Sky Walk; just know the skywalk hours for access into City Center, which is the block in which this hotel is located. I think after 10 p.m. you need to walk back to the hotel and City Center from the Target Center outside. I also recommend you take the Light Rail from the airport. An adult fare is only $1.50 !! And it takes just 30 minutes to reach the Nicolet Mall stop, which is 2 blocks from the hotel. I also recommend Hell's Kitchen for a fun dinner. By the way, I paid $129 a night, the convention rate, and thought it was well worth it.

We stayed here for a twins game and it was very nice. Really pretty easy to find and easy to park. Really reasonably price for parking. Checked in early, nice clean room, great view and an easy walk to the target center and field. Very nice new bathroom. Breakfast was good but over priced. Overall, nice stay.
