“Professional Service, clean rooms and convenient location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2011

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Northstar following a Twins game. The guest service personnel were very professional and the rooms were very clean. The location of this hotel is very convenient for any downtown activities. It's walking distance to any downtown location and the skyways are great for unideal weather. There are many small shops and restaurants along the skyways. It was interesting to learn Minneapolis has the most skyways of any US city...about 8 miles total. It was a very good stay and we will definitely be staying there again.

Booked this hotel for a bachelorette party and was very happy with the service and rooms. I had requested connecting rooms and although they weren't able to guarantee it, they did fulfill this upon check in. The rooms were very modern and clean. The rooms were more spacious than I expected based on other reviews on here. And, as an added bonus, you're only a few blocks away from some popular bars and restaurants. I'd definitely stay at this hotel again!

We had made a reservation for 2 double beds - even as a Gold Priority Club Member - they did not hold this reservation and instead offered a single King. So - they had to wheel in a cot (made for a very full room).
In general the evening/night staff was much less helpful (or had less flexibility) than the day staff. On departure the staff was very helpful in finding something to do for the day. One final comment - the bar was quite interesting - and I'm surprised there are not other posts relative to the incidents that we witnessed during our stay

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza for a short weekend trip. Upon arriving late due to flight issues, we were pleasantly surprised at the pleasant welcome and level of service from the staff. They no longer had the rooms available that met our reservation (2 double beds) but upgraded us to a king size bed on the concierge floor.

The rooms are on the small side. The rooms have been nicely renovated and have a chic decor. The bathrooms are dated but you can tell they tried to make them chic on a budget. Every thing was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and we appreciated the variety of pillows that we had to choose from.

A down fall on the room--the air condition kicked on very loudly and then would proceed to run for only a few minutes before kicking off for a few minutes and then on again. It made it difficult to get a good nights sleep. Also, the walls are thin so we were hearing the hallway traffic.

All in all, we had a great deal on the price and were pleased with what we received. Staff was very accommodating and willing to help out whenever possible. Good location as well in downtown Minneapolis.

I have stayed at the Crowne Plaza down town a number of times over the last few months for work.

The location is fantastic, right in the middle of down town and only two blocks from where I work (which suits me obviously). It is connected to the skyways so getting around in the heat or cold is very simple.

I will start with the biggest issue with this hotel. As it is one of the cheaper 4 star hotels in town, Saturday nights can be very noisy, especially if there is a wedding in the hotel OR if one of the local sporting teams are playing. I guess you can’t blame the hotel for this but I have experienced a less than quiet Saturday night there on a few occasions. They do offer a comfort pack in your room with eye shades and ear plugs so I guess they understand the issue and this is probably the best they can do to assist.

The rooms themselves are actually very well appointed. The beds are SUPER comfortable, which at the end of the day, is the most important thing. The rooms have a big screen TV with plenty of channels, a safe should you wish to put your valuables in, a nicely presented bathroom and overall are quite spacious as well as being nicely / tastefully appointed.

The hotels fitness room has all the equipment you could want but the hotel does not have a pool, which would have been nice. Reception staff are efficient without being super friendly, but I have no issue with that (I will take efficient over super friendly any day of the week).

The bar area is OK but I think the drink prices are a little high. Other hotel bars in the are offer much more of a “free pour” in the serving of their spirits where are the bar staff here mostly just provide you with a measured serving. And at $10 - $19 a serve for most spirits, it a little expensive for what you get (and the bar staff could look like they enjoy their jobs a little more).

All in all, i would certainly recommend Crowne Plaza downtown for a business trip in Minneapolis. It has all the options you could want with the added bonus of super comfortable beds, just avoid Saturday night if you are light sleeper!

Crowne Plaza is not one of my favorite brands and this was no exception. The Hotel was OK but much like some other Crowne Plaza's, needs updating. The beds were absolutely awesome. Housekeeping did and awesome job and the sheets were clean and crisp.I got a beautiful nights sleep.
