Probably the best cocktails around. Love the on-street parking, too. Very convenient. Food is great, too. Love the hamburgers. Good for a late breakfast or dinner. Live music many evenings. Highly recommend.

“Commendable approach on food, hasn't entirely hit the mark, but we'll be back”
Reviewed September 2, 2012 via mobile

I've dined at the Red Stag 4 times now. It's a comfortable casual environment with a different approach on food. Last night we had a group of 9 of us meet for dinner. We ordered the shrimp/heirloom melon salad and beet salad as appetizers (wonderfully light with great unique flavors such as mint leaves with the shrimp). 1/2 of us ordered the nightly fish (Pan seared halibut with turnips) while the others ordered either the flatiron steak or strip steaks (market grill special). The fish was a bit too seared while the turnips could have been cooked longer (too bitter). The steaks were good but nothing special for the price. The bottle of wine we wanted was out of stock so we ordered a 2nd choice from the bottle list. It wasn't until after we finished that bottle when we noticed you could also select a bottle from the "by the glass list" on the other side of the menu. Desserts were amazing (the chocolate cake - substituted with vanilla ice cream and the carrot cake were our faves)! We'll go back again and hopefully the food will continue to improve - we still love the atmosphere.

We chose Red Stag for a girls' night out based on reviews we had seen. We were so disappointed. It could be that we were there for Date Night so could not make our own choices from the menu. Only 2 of our table of 7 thought the food was any good and the wine was almost undrinkable. So very disappointed. We won't go back.

“Another hidden gem”
Reviewed July 29, 2012

We've been trying to find some places off the chain lately, and by "off the chain" I mean both completely awesome AND not a chain restaurant. The Red Stag Supperclub was recommended for a get together last night, and I am pleased to report it as a local bar and restaurant that we will definitely keep in mind for another night out.

We went with a group of friends on a Saturday night for dinner and drinks. There were about 10 of us and we had reservations, although there did not appear to be a wait if we had not had reservations. The place was very warm and open feeling, with a long bar down one side and an open kitchen along the back. Our server, Molly, and the rest of the staff were impeccable.

The food was a little on the spendy side, with plenty of meat and seafood options, yet it was delectable. I had the crab mascarpone ravioli ($19) and others tried the lobster macaroni & cheese. Everyone seemed happy with their meal; we ordered several desserts and shared. The flourless chocolate cake was a rich treat paired with Turkish coffee ice cream, which I didn't care for but I love the uniqueness of things like this found all over the menu. All of the dishes were wonderful and worthy of a food tv show. :o) Note that there were a bunch of "small plates" on the menu that would make a trip here not too expensive.

A band started at 10:30 (I think they have live music most nights, starting at different times). Sadly, I am so old that I did not stay that long to check it out. LOL

“Wonderful food!”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

The staff were great in helping us choose our lunch food...I had the amazing 'pan seared dumplings with asparagus' as a starter, while my companions had the carrot soup and the house salad...all fresh from locally supplied ingredients. Our mains were also delicious...'corn beef hash' and 'Crab & Mascarpone Ravioli'...a really smooth delicate pasta, and the' asparagus, Mushroom, & Goat Cheese Scramble' with crispy hash browns....then we all had dessert! The carrot cake was moist and a very hugh serve, the panna cotta was light and smooth with just a hint of rosewater flavouring, the orange custard pie was tart and tasty.

We all were pleased with our choices and promised to come again as the prices did not break the bank.
