“Forget this place!”
Reviewed January 19, 2008

We went to Heidi's last night to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated in the "blue room" and requested to be moved because the room was unheated. The host and wait staff ignored us. When we said we were leaving they did move us to the main dining room. The food (sea bass and short ribs)was ok, but nothing special. The glasses of wine were filled about 1/4 full. The bathroom smelled of urine. Do you think we will return? Not on your life!

“Great experience, we will be back.”
Reviewed January 15, 2008

After reading the two previous reviews I think that Heidi's has smoothed out the rough spots. The service was excellent and the ambiance was much improved over the previous establishment to occupy the space. The tastes were both subtle and interesting. The sauces were so good that we had to keep asking for more bread to keep from wasting the taste.

We shared the Buffalo Shrimp as an appetizer which was an interesting combination of flavors and a good way to start a meal. The special was a lamb shank that was so tender that it almost melted in your mouth. Other entrees sampled were the cod and poached local pheasant. Everyone in our party was very satisfied. I was amazed at the value with almost all entrees under $20. I would have expected to pay more.

“A truly Forgettable Experience”
Reviewed November 25, 2007

We tried Heidi's for dinner last Saturday, and it was truly a FORGETTABLE experience. The special of the evening - scallops - was the only winner of the evening. The rest of our dinner - neither the tuna appetizer nor the sea bass (which they kept called barramundi) were memorable - bland in taste, and not worth walking across the street to eat. The service was an ABSOLUTE DISASTER. When we were seated, our waiter came over to describe the special and tell us how fantastic it was. Then he told us there were only two servings left and we asked him to hold one for us. He said that was not possible, and we had a very interesting discussion about why he would tempt us like that and then say "too bad." We finally asked for the manager, and a woman came to help us. We assume she was Heidi, although she never introduced herself. After hearing our story, she agreed to hold one portion for us, and offered us a glass of wine to show she was sorry. Imagine our surprise when our check came and we found out we had been charged for the wine. The decor in the restaurant is totally plain and in no way appealing - and there is an unusual gentlemen (formerly from UnDeuxTrois, I believe) who spent the whole evening walking around looking for diners to talk to and talking so loudly as to be intrusive on our evening and even yelling to people on the other side of the dining room several times..... making himself a real detraction from our own conversation. To sum it up - average food, terrible service, and a weird character wandering around interrupting your dinner. Skip this place. There are many many many better options in the Twin Cities.
