“Excellent! On par with NYC restaurants”
Reviewed June 1, 2013 via mobile

Pleasant surprise to find middle eastern restaurant here in which the chef created unique dishes derived from traditional well known fare. The appetizers were great and could have constituted the entire meal. My partner loved the branzini. I had the vegetable ganging which was nice but I could have been just as satisfied with the appetizers as I am vegetarian and there were enough appetizers to make a meal. The rhubarb trifle was amazing. Waitstaff was very attentive and helpful. Owner was gracious and took time to talk with us. Only recommendation would be to use drapes or other techniques to improve the acoustics as was a big loud

“Excellent service made it special”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

The food was interesting, fresh, and delicious, but the outstanding service made it special. Nice wine list and good selection of small plates. Larger dishes are big enough to share.

“Consistent and interesting”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

Have eaten at Saffron on several occasions, great small plates and apps with some select entrees available weekly. It is Mediterranean/ Palestinian and not North African so a bit confused by a couple of the reviews. The service is top notch and it certainly is not cheap, but you get plenty for the money. Usually a couple of interesting beers on tap. The hummus is house made and the best around, get it with the cured shaved beef added. White anchovies were also great. Romantic classy place.

“Fantastic, fun, yummy food - and great atmosphere”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

Brothers Saed & Sameh Wadi are masters at their craft. They have gotten countless awards and Chef Sameh has been a semifinalist for James Beard awards twice, including right now in 2013. And there is good reason. The food is inspired from all over the Mediterranean, but with a focus on Morocco. The menu is full of amazing treats. They have small and medium plates to share that range from croquettes to hummus to foie gras and everything in between. The entrees feature wonderful fish and tagines, a wonder slow-braised Moroccan dish that melts in your mouth. They have a very good wine list that perfectly complements the food.

The atmosphere is very upscale, but still fun. The restaurant is in an old warehouse, so nice high ceilings and an open floor-plan, but somehow no matter where you sit, it feels cozy.

They have their own line of spices so you literally enjoy a taste of the restaurant at home. I use them constantly at home.

“Overpriced Middle Eastern-Moroccan Gourmet”
Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

The ambiance was nice even service was very good. There is always someone filling our water. This is definitely high-end. But I must say the flavors are definitely not authentic. The chef definitely put his own twists on the menu. The duck meatballs, suggesting a Moroccan kofta in tomato sauce, was way far off the original home- made flavor. It was good but more gourmet than I anticipated. So if you are looking for a more authentic taste, this is not the place. The tapas were not bad but since it's a high end restaurant, it was too pricey. My favorite was the chicken with eggplant with a cheese/yogurt- based sauce/dip -one of the entrees. Overall, this place was worth checking out; considering the Chef competed with Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto of Food Network. Just come without any expectation but ready for the bill.
