Flew into the cities end of July, always interested in trying a "new spot". Went here with some friends on their recommendation. Great neighborhood location & atmosphere. Tuesdy night is "Date Night" & they have an outstanding four course meal deal. App, salad, entree & dessert with options on all. I got the ripini with honey goat cheese to start off, with followed by a caesar salad. Both excellent. The bucatini had a nice zip to it & finishing with the tiramasu was perfect. My girlfriend LOVED the fig & proscuito pizza which combined a great salty & sweet twist that I didn't expect to like. Combine this with a few Summits & a great bottle of wine that our friends brought that culminated in a fantastic evening!

We've eaten here half-a-dozen times since summer, 2011 restaurant week. We have ordered from all areas of the menu: pasta, salads, pizza, entrees. Everything we have eaten here has been thoroughly enjoyable, including the expertly-mixed cocktails. The service is consistently professional and friendly. The inside is charming but can be a bit noisy. The outdoor dining is also great. I guess that al Vento's patrons are mostly locals, since it's located in a residential neighborhood, but it's surprisingly close to downtown, just a few minutes north on Hiawatha.

We went early and took advantage of half-price wine. The server's recommended wine started out a bit tart, then opened up as it breathed and became melllower and mellower; wonderful. The salami pizza with roasted garlic and ricotta was a "must-try this-at-home" combination. Pasta was made on-site and cooked perfectly; the pulled chicken ragu with goat cheese over pappardelle was one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. The chocolate tart was good; the cheesecake with masarpone gelato was sublime. If we lived here (as we did 10 years ago), we'd be regulars for Tuesday night (4 courses for $20/person) and brunch (includes bottomless mimosa, bloddy Mary or screwdriver). No kids menu, but they accommodated ours with a basic cheese pizza and a smaller bowl of spaghetti with butter.

Everything from appetizers to desert was fantastic. Delicious, imaginative, cooked to perfection with attentive service and nice ambiance. Off the beaten path, but definitely worth the trip. Not a large restaurant, so reservations are recommended.
