This is one perk of working downtown! So much fun stuff happening here regularly. Nice to have a park in the middle of business

I love Peavy Plaza during Summerfest. There is so much life on that end of the Nicollet Mall, with open air music, outdoor seating and great people watching. Fun for people of all ages.

They sometimes have random concerts, which are alright, but besides that there's not much here.

I love Peavey Plaza especially in the summer where a variety of music is played on many nights. Being next to Orchestra Hall is also a plus.

The problem this year is part of the park has been taken over by the 99% protest group. A bunch of the protesters sleep overnight and it literally looks like a homeless camp with sleeping bags, tarps and junk scattered all over.

I suspect if the protesters are allowed to stay for the summer, some events will be cancelled.

Too bad!

Peavey Plaza is a rather brutal urban park that sequesters grass and natural elements to planters and cement blocks. Stairs descend from street level to cement ledges that serve as benches and allow for summer concerts of local artists to take place before Orchestra Hall events and during city festivals. The construction below grade obstructs views of the street, making a stark contrast of the natural sky overhead with the manufactured cement at eye-level and underfoot.

Usually inhabited by many of the city's homeless during warm summer months.
