“One of the nicest walking lakes in Minneapolis”

We found a parking spot on the near road just off the trail around Lake of the Isles. It was Memorial weekend and we were there early, so we really got to inhale the sweet lake breezes. A few friendly people shared our walk. Took twin grandchildren in their double stroller and the walking was smooth and easy. Only a Porta-potty for making a stop but wow, looking at the homes around the lake made up for that minor inconvenience.

As other reviewers mentioned, the mansions surrounding the lake is beautiful and worth admiring. There were many other runners/dog walkers around on a weekend morning. If you are walking, it will probably take about an hour. Be sure to remember where you parked your car.

We rented bikes to ride around the lakes and it was so relaxing. The trails are well marked and very well maintained. We were amazed how bike-friendly the city is! The Lake is beautiful, and the houses surrounding it are, as well. Worth the time of stopping by.

This is an area that is off Hennepin Avenue just southwest about a mile from the I-94 freeway were it bends and goes through the Lowry Hill Tunnel. A nice area to bike, walk and even roller blade!

The Lake of the Isles is part of a chain of lakes including Lake Calhoun and Lake Harriet. It is located in an upscale, residential part of town, so enjoy the large houses as you enjoy your serene walk around a beautiful set of lakes. Kayaks and canoe rentals are also available on Lake Calhoun for a fee.
