The Lake of the Isles is part of a chain of lakes including Lake Calhoun and Lake Harriet. It is located in an upscale, residential part of town, so enjoy the large houses as you enjoy your serene walk around a beautiful set of lakes. Kayaks and canoe rentals are also available on Lake Calhoun for a fee.

If checking out exceptional(as in high end) houses while getting your cardio needs for the day whether it be on a bike or foot this is a great option. When you consider this is adjoined with one of the popular lakes in the Twin Cities you the makings of a decent workout with a nice distraction from some of the pain you might feeling during the process. Parking can be a issue at times. But it's worth the trouble.

Excellent lake for walking and riding bike. Also a great place to put down a blanket for a picnic or nap in the sun.

Out of all of the city lakes, this is the quietest and perhaps most beautiful. It is worth the 1-hour walk or so just to view the amazing homes (mansions). There is a dog-park, and this lake is right outside of Uptown. It is connected to Calhoun. If you are savvy on a canoe, find your way to Cedar and Brownie Lakes. If you want a relaxing day to sunbathe without anyone bothering you, I recommend this lake. There are tons of secluded grassy areas.

Loved it. Large enough so you never need to bump into anyone and yet it also has a rink set up on it for ice hockey, etc. I love the walk around the lake the most... and the sledding hill in the park on the west end of the lake.
