We went to the beach, no life guards but the water is shallow. We couldn't rent kayaks becauae the wind was up. There was an area for bike rentals and soccer. I saw a small playground for young kids and a snack area too. Limited bathrooms

Enjoyed the views and people watching in a recent run around the lake. Signage between bikes and pedestrians is a bit overly done and non-nonsensical, but overall it was great.

I may be biased because I live on the west side of this lake, but in my opinion, it is the best of the Mpls city lakes. It is not as crowded as some of the others, has 2 great beaches, playgrounds, walking path, biking path and an awesome outdoor restaurant (Sand Castle) to get a beer, lunch or dinner while enjoying the lake view and sometimes live entertainment. Shh - don't spread the word too much.

We love Lake Nokomis because of its location, size, and diversity of people and things to do. It's about a 2.7-mile walk around; slightly less if you don't cross Cedar Ave. and instead choose to clip off the small southwestern portion of the lake. Most of the lake is shady, which is nice when it's really hot out. There is a small beach, a smaller swimming area, docks, places to rent kayaks and canoes, and a picnic area with snack bar. There is a full-plumbing bathroom (with showers) near the small beach, and it's usually pretty clean. The only downside is the noise from overhead airplanes, because the lake is very close to the airport and right in the flight path of landing planes. That doesn't bother us too much, though. Very family-friendly, fun, easygoing place to hang out.

Beautiful Lake, parking usually isn't too bad and people tend to be really nice if you are jogging past them. They do have Kayaks, and Kanoes for rent. The beach area looks clean and usually a decent amount of people enjoying it.

You as well see a few people fishing off the docks.

Pretty awesome Lake not to far from the city.
