We love Lake Nokomis because of its location, size, and diversity of people and things to do. It's about a 2.7-mile walk around; slightly less if you don't cross Cedar Ave. and instead choose to clip off the small southwestern portion of the lake. Most of the lake is shady, which is nice when it's really hot out. There is a small beach, a smaller swimming area, docks, places to rent kayaks and canoes, and a picnic area with snack bar. There is a full-plumbing bathroom (with showers) near the small beach, and it's usually pretty clean. The only downside is the noise from overhead airplanes, because the lake is very close to the airport and right in the flight path of landing planes. That doesn't bother us too much, though. Very family-friendly, fun, easygoing place to hang out.

Beautiful Lake, parking usually isn't too bad and people tend to be really nice if you are jogging past them. They do have Kayaks, and Kanoes for rent. The beach area looks clean and usually a decent amount of people enjoying it.

You as well see a few people fishing off the docks.

Pretty awesome Lake not to far from the city.

I worked as a lifeguard at this lake in the 90’s and came into Minneapolis for a visit. During the visit I wanted to run the lakes and kids wanted a swim. Lake Nokomis was my second choice compared to Lake Harriet; however, I had a feeling it would not be as busy as the other lakes. It was an extremely pleasant surprise as this lake was clean and we could see the bottom and there was a delightful place to eat and grab a beer adjacent to the beach. If there was more time I would have spent an entire day at lake nokomis. Running the lake was easy and there is a great path for running and there’s a path for biking. The kids also had a great time here. Btw- I only spent 3.00 to park and someone could bring food & water and have a great afternoon that’s inexpensive.

This week I bike aroun Lake Nokomis twice, swam 200 meters, and ran the paths. It’s beautiful, clean, family friendly. There many people grilling. Also the l8neup to order at the restaurant was constant, indicating very good food on their patio. There was music on the grass and ball games across the street.

We took our kayaks out on Father's Day. The water was choppy from the wind, but it was still fun. Plenty of kayakers and sail gliders on the water, but no one ran into each other. We could hear the kids laughing and playing at the 2 beaches. It was a beautiful park and a lot of fun. We will come back again.
