“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

Beautiful architecture and beautiful art. They don't build churches like this any more. Artwork ranges from stained glass to mosaics to stone sculptures. They have tours of the basilica after the 11:30 a.m. Sunday Mass.

“a rare basilica”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

If you are into church architecture, you want to go to this Basilica. It has what I was told, the one time I actually went on a tour of it with a docent, that the space for a choir behind the altar is rare but was a common feature in churches built in the Middle Ages. That suggests to me that the Catholic Church in Minneapolis, when this church was built, took great care and pride when it chose to build this beautiful basilica.

It is a very beautiful church, in a majestic setting.

“Cool place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

I'm not a catholic but this is a must see for anyone looking to tour around minneapolis. I've traveled extensively in Europe and have been in some of the largest most beautiful cathedrals in the world, and this place may not be of those sizes, but the attention to detail and grandiose nature of the church fits in on the scale.

Just accross Loring Park, you'll find St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral. Built in 1910, this Very English, gothci building is home to many art treasures. It's mewly refubished organ is one of the largest in the Midwest. It's fine Anglican liturgies are perfect for this setting. It's widly acclaimed music programs aet the tone for excellence in an area already know for muscial excellence.
