Great walk around the lake with separate paths for foot and bicycles. Lots of dogs. Smooth to push a wheelchair (2018) - just resurfaced. Lots of wildlife around and tree coverage. Variety of architecture of the homes around the lake is interesting.

I live about 2 blocks from this lake and it's great walking it's about approximately less than 3.00 miles and it's shady with a lot trees in summer time. As you know 10,000+ lakes in Minnesota.
I have been biking or walking around Lake Harriet for years. It's a beautiful setting and so close to downtown. Great homes to see along the way, concerts at the band shell, the rose garden and even a lakeside restaurant called the Bread and Pickle. This lake has it all. A must do for the Minneapolis suburbanite.
Beautiful lake, with easy access to the city. Local eatery and stage, make this an excellent stop to socialize, as well as the option of many hiking/biking trails.
We were taken here by our grown kids and their 5 to 8 year olds, and we were so pleasantly surprised by the entire area. The lake was pretty and had sidewalks around it, the nearby garden acreage was exceptional, people were riding bikes and walking dogs, and the snack bar had plenty of outside seating. What else can you ask for on a warm sunny day?
Lake Harriet offers so much- biking, walking, running, sailing, kayak/canoe rental, sunset watching, swimming, and summertime music and movies. You can typically find a parking spot on the road along the lake.
