“Natural food”

We found some great smoked fish at this grocery store/ restaurant. Buy your food and check out to the dinning area, a fun place and good selection.

“Very inventive and exiting”
Reviewed November 7, 2013 via mobile

Ordered a vegetarian Burger that was so much fun to eat. Many different consistencies and Flavors, in fact needed no extra seasoning.
The restaurant is very eclectic.
The only suggestion is please clean your trash can. It is dirty and diminishes from the great food you serve!

“Confusing, and disappointing”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

I had been told to come to this restaurant from a staff member at (the much better restaurant) Birchwood Cafe. The system is quite different, you go up and order get your own coffee and condiments... It was quite confusing for a first timer there and they were really busy as it was Sunday bunch. Staff was as helpful as they could be. I was really excited to find a vegetarian/vegan cafe. But the food kind of disappointed. Both mine and my boyfriend's breakfast was a bit bland. We sat outside in a lovely area (much nicer than the interior) which had beautiful landscaping and picnic tables (that you share with everyone).

The experience would have been much better if it wasn't for some of the guests outside. There were a group of people who looked like (and confirmed as their bunch conversation centered around it) they just came off a big drug binge. One guy was clearly still high as he walked around staring at the sky rambling who knows what. When they were talking about their friend who almost OD'ed or how messed up they were, they talked about beating people up. I understand this is not the restaurants fault but it made us feel so uncomfortable. Additionally, this group of grungy kids kept staring me up and down and giving me dirty looks as it was clear they didn't appreciate my attire (we stopped on our way out of town camping so I was wearing underarmour running shorts, nike shoes and some kind of work out top). I knew I didn't fit in with the crowd dress wise, but no one else bothered me.

Really weird experience, and since the food was just ok, I wouldn't go back.

“cozy cafe in a colorful neighborhood”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

This is the place go for brunch with your twenty-something son, to enjoy a bottomless mug of fresh-brewed coffee, and to experience the multi-faceted Seward neighborhood including Milwaukee Avenue, a street of workingman's houses faithfully restored and colorfully decorated. There are walks on Franklin Avenue and nearby Minnehaha Avenue, but the best walking is in the neighborhood behind the cafe. Don't forget the terrace in back either!

“Consistently Healthful Food”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Very nice sandwiches - most are vegetarian, some vegan - I very much like the vegie rueben, but also like the vegan burrito. Excellant fuit smoothies. Very good salad bar. The hot bar of food is also good. Looking throughout the store one finds a great array of healthy food and other products. The dining area tends to be overun on weekends, but both staff and customers are always very nice. The parking lot is packed during peak times.
