A great little stop! In what used to be someone's home many years ago, Alejandro Victoria is cooking up Mexican food that is very, very good and very, very authentic. The house made guacamole was as good as any I have ever tasted. We opted for the Tocino guac - bacon, pico de gallo, chipotle, garlic, lime, cilantro & corn - and it was great!
Our meal included a taco sampler including barbacoa, chicken and shrimp (my choices from their many options). Each was flavorful and unique. The beans and rice that accompanied my tacos were fabulous, especially the beans. Next time I will have a much larger portion of the beans.
My dinner partner had a barbacoa burrito and a beef tamale. He enjoyed the tastiness of each dish, but it was more food than he could consume at one sitting - so part of the burrito went home for a midnight snack.
Each of us enjoyed a margarita - made with pomegranate juice and blood orange. Again, great! Apparently we should have taken a trip upstairs where the bar features 50 or so tequilas. Next time we go upstairs. And there will certainly be a next time.
I will return to Nico's and would recommend it to friends!
