It started out with five of us squashed at a table for four (we were not the only group seated like this) on hard wooden chairs. This meant that we spent the evening bobbing and weaving as the servers walked behind to get to another table and reached between us to serve and clear. Really, when you are going to spend $50 or more person, shouldn't you be comfortable? Tiny cups of ordinary soup, average salads, small overpriced entrees, fatty duck that tasted like boiled chicken, tasteless petit filet with a salty demi glace. A terrible waste of almost $300. As we were leaving we heard the valet parking attendant turn away a guest to the restaurant because he said the lot was full. Really, how is that ever acceptable?

I had a very nice solo dinner here a few weeks ago, sitting outside and watching the world go by. I had a nice wild rice soup with a clear broth - it was a really small cup and did lack a bit of 'depth', an interesting vegetarian entree (which did see m a bit pricey at $20) and they tempted me with a delicious chocolate dessert (which I could not finish even though it was wonderful.)
Everything is fresh, the service is friendly but needs to be just a tad more professional. I woudl certainly recommend.

Lucia's Wine Bar is the middle of three different dining opportunities created by the skillful hands of Lucia Watson, the other two being a bakery and a white table cloth restaurant. Each is excellent in its own way. We like the Wine Bar because we can go there in late afternoon without a reservation and have a good meal.

They usually have a small beef tenderloin on the menu that is just the right size for our smaller appetites, and this time it came with a subtle whisky demi glaze. We started with the house bruschetta which was a little odd, with not a piece of tomato in sight (goat cheese, pesto, and olive tapenade, all very rich). A bottle of Tuileries Bordeaux was delicious and "only" $29.

This is a very small place with outside seating in good weather. The décor is old brick walls and tin ceilings, plus some nice French posters. It is very comfortable, and the young servers are helpful and friendly. It is a pleasant refuge in busy Uptown.

The date of our visit was September 8, 2013.

Our Sunday brunch experience on 09/08/2013 was less than mediocre. My omelette, which included ham and mushrooms was tasteless. Also on my plate were a few mediocre potato pieces. No toast was included. The cost of that omelette was about $13. My son in-law had an egg dish that was completely flavorless and it was served at room temperature. The staff replaced the egg dish with a breakfast sandwich that was less than exciting. The sandwich was priced in the $14 - $15 range and was definitely a poor value. My wife had the french toast with peaches and she enjoyed her breakfast. All of the servers were terrific - friendly and accommodating.
The bottom line: we won't be returning any time soon. It was a disappointing experience from a restaurant with a wonderful reputation.

Jenice learned about Lucia's onTtripAdvisor and it sounded like our kind of place. We had visited the Gehry-designed art museum at the university and had to rush to make the lunch deadline at Lucia's. Well, it would have been worth a speeding ticket as it turns out (though we didn't get one). What a great concept. Wonderful food served up in a sit down setting (which we did) or offered takeout through a gourmet deli. This restauant focuses on preparing a few offerings beautifullym with incredible touches like delicious olive oil, great bread, all in a comfortably small setting where you can chat with your neighboring diners.
