Vincent's is one of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities. The food is delicious and French-inspired. The location and decor is ideal and the parallels the exquisite food.

Year in and year out, this classy French eatery delivers succulent dishes that captivate the most jaded restaurant visitor. From pan-seared scallops with a medley of leeks and fingerling potatoes surrounded by an out-of-sight orange butter sauce -- to five course pixe fixe menus -- Vincent places unparalleled savory meals on elegant tables; long-stemmed wine glassware, white tablecloths, serviced by an extraordinary and personable waitstaff. French chef Vincent Francoual brings his heritage with him, rivaling the top bistros in Paris. Don't miss his restaurant in downtown Minneapolis.

My husband and I found ourselves hungry whilst standing outside of Vincent's during a Saturday night Santa parade. We saw empty tables but figured they were reserved. Luckily a bar table was open because the food was incredible. We could order off the ding room menu but chose the Vincent burger from the bar menu. It was a wow burger! And then there's the hazelnut chocolate cake. I'm a baker so am very picky about my desserts. I would return to minneapolis just to eat this cake! Our server was super too. Great spur of the moment moment.

Crisp white linens, well dressed servers, lots of room between tables, subdued atmosphere and what? Lamb shank, baguettes, cassoulet, scallops, and escargots? This must be the best of both worlds, the elegance of La Belle Vie, with the hearty food of the French countryside.
Our party of four started with kirs and cocktails and a basket of baguette slices that was refilled without our having to ask during the meal. Our starters included traditional escargots, thus the need for lots of bread to dab into the garlic and butter mixture. The beet and goat cheese salad was a work of art, with perfect circles of thinly sliced beets. Likewise, the green salad was put together nicely.
The courses were whisked to the table by four servers, a very impressive display. My generous cassoulet came in a casserole dish and the server dished out the first portion for me. The lamb shank was well seasoned and fall-off-the-bone tender. The scallops were browned perfectly and light as can be. Dessert involved a decadent chocolate martini and six house made truffles.
The drapery of a few years ago has been removed, so it is a bit of a fish bowl effect, but the tradeoff is wonderful views of the street and the tall buildings that surround the location.
The date of our visit was Nov. 14, 2012.
