Sushi-Erlebnis in Funchal!

Sushi experience in Funchal! Certainly a highlight of our short visit to Madeira! Lovely food, impressive presentation in unconventional surroundings. Very personal and friendly service by the owner of the restaurant. Unusual that you have no choice but a set menu - a risk, we would not have a problem to take again.

The worst dining experience I've ever had in Minneapolis. The bathroom was dirty and the toilet did not work. We waited for 75 minutes for our food and finally left the restaurant without ever being served. We literally only saw two tables receive ANY food at all during those 75 minutes. Interestingly, a table of Asian Americans sat down and was one of the tables served after only waiting about 20 minutes. Could they be showing some prejudice in which customers got served anything? Don't know the answer to that, of course. Find a different Chinese restaurant because this one is dirty and slow.

An almost hidden gem! There was a time when many did not know about this restaurant, now it has become a very popular restaurant and it is deservingly so. Just the freshest dishes and the best wait staff in town. The food is great and speaks for itself. The seafood is just delicious. The wait staff, along with all the people behind the scenes make this a very nice place to dine. Don't drive by it if you are in the area.

In a large university neighborhood is often where you find authentic ethnic cuisine. This is a great example. Located in the Dinkytown area of University of Minnesota, this humble restaurant has absolutely no atmosphere other than one that you can sort of tell this is where real Chinese food may be found. The menu is large with a large wall board of daily specials, about half of which is seafood including lobster and crab dishes. The steam dumplings are delicious here as is the clay pot cuisine. Prices are good with daily lunch specials, some of which is toned down a bit for the mass market. The flavors are super bold and the food is always freshly cooked and piping hot. It is authentic Chinese food at student level prices. Very good. Try it. Be daring when you order. It is worth a special trip if you love good Chinese food.

Love going to Shuang Cheng. The dungeness crab in 5 spice is great. They have an interesting selection of daily specials on the wall...in all honesty, I'm a bit scared to try some of them. If you have never been, read the menu carefully. Some of the meat dishes do have bones in them, and some of the fish dishes are served tableside in the fish. Never had a bad meal here. The only down side to the restaurant is its in dinky town and parking can be problematic!
